Im about to buy some WC stuff for my sig. It gets really hot in socal and my my cpu/gpu/chipset gets really hot. So, Im going for some WC.

I dont want to make a custom loop, just saying.

Would this set be good for keeping everything cool/extending overclocks/ and being very quiet?

http://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCW60-VGA-cooler-pr-3252.html

and because im on a DFI mobo, its hard to WC the chipset

http://www.jab-tech.com/Evercool-VC-RE-Twinkling-VGA-Cooler-pr-2291.html (yes this works if you dont know)

So, will it be good for what I ask?

Thanks.

I watercool my chipset... Maze 4 chipset block.. I just don't use my top PCI-E slot.. never really have because the video card blocked the chipset fan from getting air...

Video card in top PCI-E slot = 60c+ Chipset load at times...
Video card in bottom PCI-E slot = never over 57c
Water cooled chipset = Never over 42c  (In the dead of summer)

Bad picture... but I like this setup a lot.

good system dual 120mm rad is great and swiftech blocks are really good. the D5 pump is the gold standard pump for 1/2" systems.

also you can WC you chipset I have same mobo and i got this...

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=241&products_id=4527

not great on flow..... but i run 3/8" not 1/2 and have a DCC-plus so i have head to spare.

I really like it my system is really quite...
loadest things are my HDDs spinning and my 80mm panflow fan

good luck and I hope you have as much fun with WC as I did :)

Petra's seems like a good kit; the swifty apex kits are great as well if you want a res. The kit you picked seems about the same. Go for it!

thanks for the replies...

Thats an interesting idea to put the gfx in the lower slot. I need to ask a question but i think i should first tell what I think would be a decent loop(correct please :))

pump>res>cpu>gpu>(chipset if its there)>rad>pump

1) Would I be able to bend the tubing far enough so that it could reach all the way up to the chipset?

2) I have the 2 pci slots filled with a tv tuner and an xfi. Will there be enough space between my 7900gt and the xfi for me to watercool if i put it in the lower slot?

Thanks.

The tubing has to bend over the gfx and then perpendicular to the mobo to get to the barb. BTW, the gfx is in the top slot in that pic and theres no PCI cards

BTW heres the chipset block i would be getting http://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCW30-Chipset-cooler-pr-3251.html

I saved a Freakish amount of money by buying the parts individualy from the For Sale forum here on the one and only [H]ardOCP.

I have a:

D5 Pump
Maze4 GPU BLOCK
TDX BLOCK
BIP 3 RAD
3 YATE LOON'S 5 VOLTED
PASSIVE CHIPSET BLOCK
80MM FAN 7VOLTED ON THE PASSIVE CHIPET BLOCK

All other fans are 5volted. The pump runs on level 1(min). Clearflex tubes w/ distilled and pentosin blue antifreez.

It's been runing on a highly overclocked Socket A chip that normally generates a LOT of heat. Also in the loop is an unlocked and overclocked PNY 6200.
Basically it's unlocked to all 8 pipes and jacked up to GT speeds (6200 = 6600GT).

So anyway yea, I think I got that stuff above for like $150-$160. Including the pentosin blue, tubes, and fittings.

D5 pump was by far the most expensive.
Think I got the bip3 for 30.

No tax of coarse and faster shipping than your likely to find with online retailers. I bought one of the components from one guy and he actually sent me a fedex overnight pdf to print and slap on a box AND the next day the fedex guy stoped by my house to pick it up. WOOT! '

See what I mean, check my rig out.

Yikes!! It's Frankenfont! Might as well type in caps mayn.

i think i just want to buy new...

anyway, I still have a dilemma...

Should I get the air chipset cooler or spend the extra $$$ and WC the chipset while not even knowing if I can fit it in there/have enough tubing.

Also, someone told me the rad wont be able to handle my overclocks of my CPU/GPU (and with the chipset also). He said my temps wont be good because it wont handle the load. Is this true?

A 120mm rad will not be able to handle the stress of an Overclocked CPU and GPU. Unless you run a BIX120 with 1-2 high powered fans. Well, at least not elegantly.

Personally, I say:

a) buy your maze4 chipset block used from me (I have one for sale :D) or

b) add in a passive zalman blue one, and get some good airflow.

c) Make sure your setup goes Pump > Rad > Cpu (or Pump > Cpu > Rad) etc.

That'll definitely do you.

I still recommend the BIP for the lower price (it's like a 1'c temp difference) or the Stealth GT for the better temps (like 4'c).

Pumps add heat to your loop, so you want the pump after the last waterblock in your loop.

My Loop is Pump-> Rad -> CPU -> GPU -> Chipset -> Pump.

And as you can see, my T-Line is right between the pump inlet and the chipset block.

Most pumps only add a few watts of heat to the loop. From what I've been able to tell, having the most pressure against the pin array of the WB creates the best pressure. Honestly, however, the difference will be less than 1'c.

the NF430 chip on my mobo receives absolutely no airflow, runs hot enough to brand the heatsink fin pattern onto your fingertips, and the only time my rig`s crashed multiple times on me was when I overclocked my RAM. Is it really worth cooling the NB, when my friend`s after-market Zalman with a 50mm fan ghetto-modded onto it does a damn fine job.

Nope, cooling the Chipset is mainly for Silence and coolness factor. Those 8 million rpm little bastards will make you tear your hair out (Honestly, the only loud thing in my system is the *soon to be replaced* NB HSF! I'm going with the passive zalman as my Maze 4 just won't fit in my loop).

Some people can get a few extra mhz out of their systems, but not all that much, especially not an an A64 system... IMC's and all.

yeah i hate the sound of the chipset heatsinks... will that air evercool be fine?

The 20% coupod still works over @ danger den (see this thread)http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1074381
the best selling pump is the D5 but the lastest trend is the 18w DDC http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=135&cat=4&page=1 with the alphacool top http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=201&products_id=4506
The Thermochill PA series Radiators are the best atm while the Black Ice GTS would be a good(less expensive) second choice. the most popular tubing atm is 7/16" and high flow 1/2"barbs for a good tight fit

a good resource of info would be the water section here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/

im too much of a noob to configure my own custom system.

Can someone configure a system (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=7) that will cool my sig. I want a gpu and cpu block. Also, I want a res :)

Most importantly, I dont want to mod my case AT ALL and keep it <$375 without coupon. I just want to make sure everything is compatable and im not missing anything. A quick reply would be great. Im ordering tonight :)
