I think their implementation of it is likely a dog.

However that doesn't mean we can't watercool our PSUs.

Then again PSUs have changed in the past couple of years. There's less of a need to watercool them now. My Corsair uses it's own fan, I never hear it, and it doesn't spread heat to the rest of the system.

If I watercooled it then I wouldn't really be gaining much. Unlike motherboard components where it's either not really possible to cool them effectively, quietly, or they are sensitive to heat, the PSU can be air cooled effectively, silently and it's not affected by heat.

Best thing that could happen is Seasonic, Corsair, Enermax or one of the other top end PSU manufacturers produce a PSU with G1/4 or G1/2 fittings on it for watercooling barbs/fittings and let people cool it themselves rather than these ridiculous integrated watercooling systems we keep seeing manufacturers coming out with.

Nice work. I've tried doing that in the past, albeit a far more ghetto approach. How did you ensure that you didn't have live current going into your copper tubes? I found that despite using thermal tape to attach tubes to my psu's heatsink, over time it weakened and current started to 'seep' through as it were.

I don't know how bad it is, but I wouldn't want mains current in my water loop. Maybe it's harmless in real world practice?

thx for the implication that my work had more ghetto room. I thought I had it about as ghetto as could be. :p As far as the insulation, well, when the first PSU detonated, it occured to me that "I wonder if those HS are electrically hot?" :rolleyes: So for the second PSU I tried thermal pads, and it just burned itself out. Luckily the circut breaker saved it, and it wasn't powering any componets. So I used thin rubber shims and bridged the gap with koolance 2 part mix yourself thermal encapsulate (the stuff they used on their older HD coolers).

For my HTPC and main system i'll used plastic laminate (formica) and try do not be so ghetto........
