ok i got this old project case from ym friend that he never finished...its a dangerden/dtek system tdx block and maze4 along with a video card cooler


he never cut a hole into the top of his case for the 120mm and i am wondering if u cut a hole into it will it improve the temps i get? right now i am at about 93F i am hoping to pull it down to 70 the fluid i have is a small amount of koolance liquid (i had some left over) and distilled water mix....what do you think?

p.s. i am running a 190 cfm fan in it.
 
well i dont know anything about your system for starters

second is it posible to just leave the radiator out of the case and see how it does first before cuting??
 
its acctually mounted to the case (top) already he just gave up and never cut a hole in the top...it runs now at 98-100F and i am wondering if i cut a hole will it make a large temp differance..
 
ok well more air flow will drop temps yes but too many varibles involved for a real ancer there dude...

like are you talking water temp or cpu temp?

what kinda cpu?

Video card?

Whats in the loop now?

also what kinda ambient temp are you running the system in now?
 
cpu temp is what i want id like to get it to atleast 79-86F

everything is pretty much in my sig cause i put my old computer in this case
for some reason its running hotter than my old case which was in a koolance
that ran @ 79F this is at 100-101F and im only tlaking about my cpu i dont care about the rest...

i just cant figure it out the only thing i can imagine is it's because there is no hole for the fan to push the air out of....
 
well it sounds like a no brainer there dude start cuttin if you want to reduce cpu temp :)

personaly i would look at a possible different way to mount it rather than cuting apart a good case. at any rate tones of options dude no limmit to what you can do.

if your looking for more performance you might want to think about the northbridge cooling also ;)

anyhow gl hope ya get it runnin nice and cool :cool:

Yea you need a hole there lol. Having nowhere for the fan to push the air means it really isn't pushing much air through the radiator (too much restriction). You need good airflow for the radiator to really perform well and dissipate a good amount of heat.
 
You arent going to get 85F temps with regualr watercooling, thats just above normal ambient, unless your room is 40 degrees or something like that. Also, Im American, but in general more people use Celcius for temps, its just easier for everyone else as well as comparing to established averages.
Yeah, the blowhole will do you good, but 100F/37C is pretty good for a toasty p4. You arent going to get your temps unless you start using pelts/tecs/ice water/huge reservoirs/etc., so you should cut out your blowhole & see what temps you get.
 
I agree that the temps you are shooting for are sort of unrealistic, and I am very skeptical of your claimed 79F temps before...I sure hope those are idle temps and not load, if they are load temps then your temp sensor is off lol.
 
on my old koolance pc3 i had 79F idle and max was like 86F under load and that was with 3/8" tubing this has 1/2"...it had a dual fan radiator though

Jay, what was your ambient? This review shows temps no where near yours, so somethings up though. If those are your real temps, then great job.
