I'm gonna be building a WC kit for a new PC for my dad...heres his specs...

A8N SLI Deluxe
AMD FX57
2x BFG Geforce 7800 GTX OC 256MB
2GB Corsair PC3200
2x Maxtor 160GB Serial ATA 7200rpm HD
Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum

(First off, I told him he DOESN'T need 99% of this to check Yahoo mail and play at Pokerstars.com - but he's retiring after 33yrs in the fire dept and insisted on me building him a PC that I want, so that he can gloat everytime he IMs me. Oh, and he said, "Maybe I'll play some Civilization 2 once in awhile" - he refuses to get IV or even III.)

He wants a WC kit for the CPU, both GPUs, and the northbridge. So far, I'm leaning toward either DangerDen or Switftech blocks for eveything. My questions are what pump, radiator, and resevoir should I be using? He wants it all to glow blue (oh the joy), so, are there any UV Blue tubes that are gonna glow nice and bright? Any recommendations on the lights also?

Thanks for any info you can pass on...

wow, all that for a pc just to check emails and gloat at you? hehe You better hope he give you the pc after you finish building it.

Back on topic.

Just get everything from swiftech.
MCP655-pump
Storm block.
Mcw-55 gpu x2
the swiftech dual 120mm rad or a DD BIP is good. Or triple rad from DD if it fits on the case. Btw the swiftech comes in blue if you want to go with the blue theme.
You don't really need a res, can go with a T-line instead. But a res bleeds easier. Try the micro res from swiftech. It is compact and I am going to get one myself :D .

As far as tubing, you can just get the masterklear tubing from mcmasters and add some UV blue fluids in the coolant and it works just fine. get some UV CCFL and you are good to go. Look in the sticky on the forum and it should give you some good ideas.

Can't go wrong with DD, but I've also had good experience with Swiftech as well. Go with 1/2" Tygon tubing for minimal restriction. Or you could be a little crazy like me and go with dual loops of 3/8" tubing. Personally, I like big heater cores - I go to the local auto parts store and find one that's the right size for what I need and solder in the barbs I need. Otherwise, for your heat load there, I would go with the biggest radiator you can fit. Pump is a bit more nebulous, I like the DD/Swiftech 12v pumps, but have also used Enheim with great success.

in spite of what the above post says, the heat load from that system is nothing special. a dual rad will do for good performance and low noise, a triple for super quiet opperation.

some questions for you, that should help us select good parts:
1) what case is this going to go into?
2) do you/your father want it to look super pretty?
3) what is your time frame?
4) what is the budget?

seriously, if pops is really loaded and wants the best of the best, fire an order off to little river waterblocks for one of their G5 blocks, or if they're taking orders for them, the G7. then pick up a bad-ass iwaki pump from the aquarium store. fire an order off to the UK for a thermochill PA120.3, and drop a pair of swiftech MCW 55 GPU blocks in there.

if that's just too expensive, and i sincerely hope that it is, just pick up a swiftech apex, add a pair of MCW 55 GPU blocks, and use a pentosin blue antifreeze and UV blue dye mix for the coolant.

1. I haven't figured that out yet. I'm either gonna go for a totally clear acrylic case (a nice big one) or something that I can put a big window into.
2. Yes, father wants it to look pretty - I don't know why though. I think its cause that way, when I come visit, he can point at it and laugh at me. :)
3. Time frame is whenever I get it, and whenever I get it done - no rush.
4. Well, its not high enough to get all those parts you listed...though it should be - he's droppin' enough already. Lets just say its enough to purchase some good quality stuff - just not enough to ship stuff in from the land down under.

Thanks for the help!

For the glowing blue, FrozenCPU sells some sort of "supposedly" inert coolant that comes in a VERY vibrant blue color and is UV reactive on top of that. I recommend this because if it works like MCT-5 then it should provide an added level of piece of mind for your dad.

You can always use more proc and more ram for better boot and load times (and more time until bogged down with spyware) better board for more stability, more hdd space for whatever crap he may want on it, and even watercooling I can justify for silence.

But I can not figure out why sli? When one of those cards will pretty much beat the ass of any game out there, and then not be used.

I dare you to tell me you wouldn't want that, even -1x7800.
