my cpu is idling at 51C and gets up to 64C at load.... my specs are in the sig. except i have the clock lowered to 2455mhz (10.5x233).

vcore is at 1.75

im using A.S. ceramique and the tornado is spinning at around 3.2k

i have just reseated with a fresh application of the thermal compound. the temp just seems way too high to me.

anyone know whats going on?

*edit* ... ok i reseated it again. and removed a little bit of the thermal compound its now peaking at 51 with cpu toast. does that sound about right?

51*C load is just fine, especially when you're overclocked as much as you are. I would try to improve airflow and maybe install a blowhole or exhaust so you can feed more cool air and expel more hot air.

i have four 80mm's, two intake and two exhaust. but right now the case is on its side with the panel off. the room is very cool.

I don't think you have anything to worry about then. If you keep things how they are I don't believe you'll have any problems. If the ambient temp doesn't increase much, you could even overclock some more. As things are, I think you'll be just fine.

when it's not prime stable it isn't a serious overclock. It has to be a stable to be otherwise programs will always crash. dial it back to where it is stable and go from their

yeah.. too bad none of it is prime stable.

If it's not stable then what's the point? I can understand just having fun pushing your chip to its limits, but if you can't experience the higher speeds of the overclock, it does you no good.

Are you sure its your CPU's fault? Maybe check out your ram or temperatures of other things, or increase your voltages a bit and see if that helps.

I have to agree with Deadlierchair. If prime95 will not run, then something is not stable, and more than likely its the memory. If you're using pc3700 memory, why do you have your timings at 11-3-3-3? That memory is rated stock at 233 mhz fsb, and you're only running at 235. Put those timings back to their default setting which should be something like 6-3-3-3 and see what happens. Since the ram is not getting pushed much, I doubt it would need more voltage unless its crappy ram, and if thats the case, replace the memory.

btw, Dealierchair, why do you have your vcore at 1.8 for only 200x11? I was able to hit that with only a 1.7 vcore and didnt have to hit 1.8v until I got to 210 fsb?

im trying to get this ram rma'd. i have to have a special bios (cpc off) in order for it to boot at its stock speed... which is BS imo.

i have it flashed back to the f16 bios. it wont go at any voltage (233), even 3.2v

its 'spd' is 8-3-3-3... technically 11-3-3-3 is a looser timing which so happens to give a greater yield in bandwidth. this ram is crap though.... the reason i got it was because other ppl were having success with it ie: 11-2-2-2.5@245... obviously mine wont even touch that. but then again, it wont even touch what its rated for.

I had to go this high because I got the short end of the stick when it came to 2500s for overclocking. It's not a mobile or anything, best I can do is at 1.85v which can get me like 2300 mhz but it's not too stable.

Jason711: I'm talking about your CPU voltage, that might be causing some instability too.

thats sort of hard to pin down atm.... ive had the voltage all the way up to 2v. if i knew i had good ram i could rule that out.

Damn that sucks. I got a post 38, a 40 actually, and so far I've been pleased. Right now Im at 210 fsb with 1.8. My mobo will take me up to 2.2 on the vcore. Just havent had time to sit down and try to break 220 yet :D

So far I've bumped it up from 200 to 210 about 3 days ago, and no hiccups yet.

Jason, I can almost guarantee that its your ram. I had some crucial that I think had a bad chip on it. I couldnt break 183 fsb with some crucial 2700, any higher and it would fail on prime95. Odd thing was it would only run with timings of 7-3-3-3. I couldnt do anything less than that. Everything else ran fine. Games, multiple 3dmark runs, etc. But prime would report a memory error. So.... if you want some good memory, look at the Geil. Good ram at a low a price. I've not been anything but pleased with mine.

i wish i was in the position to purchase some new stuff... gonna have to see if i can get an rma. i pm'd memoryman on the amdmb forums, he works for buffalo. hope he can help me out.

but if i actually had the cash id be hunting some bh5 down. ;) matter-o-fact, if i do get this stuff rma'd, i have another gig laying around... i may see if somebody would wanna trade one gig of solid bh5 for two gigs (3x512, 2x256) plus some cash. *shrug*
