Wavemaster Front Intake Fans

I am in the process of purchasing some Nexus 80mm fans to replace the stock ones. Considering that the front intake fans are having a hard time blowing cool air in due to the case design, would it matter much if I just not have any intake at all? I'll definitely have one 80mm on the back and one on the top.

My video card idles at 48C. During loads its around the low 60Cs.
Processor idles 28C-32C depending on room temps and loads around the low 40Cs.

I'm just looking to save 20 bucks :)

take both of em out and flip ur HDDs backwards, those fans dont do ANYTHING. the only pain in the ass about removing em is, you have to snap those metalic tacs or w.e they used to secure the cage into place. if you want, i can help u out with that since i did it on my case.
btw - my temps havent gone up at all after removing em and the case is even quieter now.
 
Sure. Can you give me more info on removing the front intakes?

Last night I disconnected all the fans to test the temps. So far I haven't noticed any temp changes. Though it is extremely quiet now.
 
Also, are you running outtake fans on the back and top? Are they helping any with temps?
 
I would guess that the back should be intake, and the top be exhaust.
 
All the 80mm case fans have been removed. I figured out an easier way to remove the front intakes. All that is required is a 5/64 allen wrench and a phillips.

I ordered 2x 80mm Nexus Quiet fans, SI-120 Thermright HSF and 120mm Nexus D12SL-12. I'll probably go with the back fan as intake and the upper fan as outtake.

Hopefully the noise levels decrease dramatically. All that is left is the noise from my video card. I'll worry about that one later :)

The only thing the front fans might be good for is cooling the hard drives. Yes, they are most likely just recirculating warm air from already inside the case, but that air is cooler than having no flow over the hard drives to begin with.
I have two Raptors down there, and with the fans in even at low voltage, they stay only warm to the touch. Otherwise they get rather hot.

I honestly think the whole hard drive cooling issue is dumb. Ive had a 60 GB western digital running without any airflow for 6 years atleast, and it has never failed on me.

I would have to agree w/ you on that. Think of all the retail PCs that are sold and never have HD cooling problems. Last year i worked at BB selling PC and every one I would open up never had any type of HD cooling. Thats not to say that cooling is a bad thing, I think its just a little over the top in most cases.
