After losing my first CM Wavemaster Case due to a burglar, I decided I wanted another and found a "clone" on geeks.com - I just received it yesterday and I must say, it *IS* a Wavemaster case. It's identical in every way to my original Wavemaster case. Everything in the case is CM branded, as are the inside fans. The only difference I was able to tell is a logo; it doesn't have the CM logo on the front.

Newegg has the case at ~$129.00 -

Geeks.com - $64.00

wow! that's awesome

i'm gonna jump on that if its still available in a month or so

Yeah, these are the debranded HP/Compaq gaming cases. Can't remember the name of the HP system... X-something I think it was. They are OEM WaveMasters, just like the retail CM's, they were just built for HP/Compaq. Geeks.com usually keeps a good stock of these at around this price.

X07 and X09, from Compaq.
TAC-xxx is CM's naming convention, so these are 100% authentic.

Does it have the LED's around the tombstone as well? The Geeks picture doesn't highlight them.

Yes. It is EXACTLY the same as my CM Wavemaster - It has the blue LEDS near the tombstone thing.

Are you sure the front on that thing is aluminum? I have a generic case that looks exactly like that one except it is black and the front is plastic. I picked up mine for $39 as a demo from Fry's.

I just RMA'd the exact case and it was an unbranded Compaq. Aside from the foot sized dent in the side panel from shipping, the Compaq and "X" logos were crudely sanded off leaving half of the printing and some hideous scratches. Also, one of the drive bay covers was missing and there are no accessories with the case - specifically the USB /headphone to fan conversion parts.

If you can live with those defects or are planning on modding it, it would be a great case for the price. Shipping was a little over 10.00 to Iowa.

Thanks to the OP for the heads up on this. What a deal! Perfect for modding!

Like there were two open 5 1/4" drive bays without covers?

They crudely sanded off the compaq logo ey? I can see why they did it but that's pretty cheesy.

Well OP didn't mention any scratches/sanding marks on his case so hopefully their newer ones aren't like that.

On the case I received (I waited until I received this to post) there were no scratch marks (sanding marks), no dents, and everything was the same as the original case. I haven't looked into the connectors that were on the top as I was just going to put another 80mm fan on the top as I did the original case. Two USB and one firewire ports with what looks like, standard USB/Firewire motherboard plugs.

Almost forgot - Yes. The entire case I received is aluminum. No plastic.

what the hell?! Same build quality and everything?!
Same build quality as what, the WaveMaster? Yes, it IS a WaveMaster. Made by CoolerMaster for Compaq's branded gaming rigs, they just removed the Compaq logo from these.

Don't get me wrong. I could have got a random bad case. I could have lived with the scratches in the front panel and mod it to look good, missing a drive bay cover - you're gonna put something in there anyway...It was the giant dent in the side that got me. For the price, you can't beat it. The front panel connector was to a Compaq so there will be some modding involved there. Geek.com customer service was on the ball though - RMA number with no hesitation and very prompt.

I'm tempted to pick this case up.

My main question is, how easy is it to remove ALL panels (sides, front, top) of the case??

Are they riveted together like the Lian-Li cases or simply screwed together?

When you got it, did it have 2 5 1/4 drive bays open? Because it shows it in the picture only coming with 3 drive bay covers.

shipping is 8 for me for the guy who wanted to know

they are located in CA, do i get taxed :(

oh and they raised price to 69, i hate when they do this

Anyone have a pic of how they sanded off the logo? I might buy one too I really like the Wavemaster(s) I have.

Looks good but shipping is too much, and on the top 80mm fans that is not good. Now most of the cases comes with 120mm in & out.
