how much does a typical power supply use when it is only used for surfing the internet.

I have a 500watts power supply but i wanna know how much im consuming so i dont waste a lot of electricity.
 
Of course. Buy a Kill-A-Watt or a DMM with a clamping ammeter and clamp the hot wire on the power cord (use a spare cord you can split.)
