wattage question

I'm working on a SR-2 build, the thing that has stopped me so far is I'm not sure how many watts I can pull from my wall with out tripping a breaker. I'm thinking I may need to pull - 2,000 -3,000 watts.

i already have a silverstone strider 15000W PSU and i may end up getting one more to leave room for capacitor aging, one small reason for this build is for long term future proof.

any one know how to figure this out?

At 110 volts (typical mains power in the US), 2000 watts is about 18.2 amps. For a 20 amp breaker, you don't want to exceed 16 amps (80% of rated amp draw) for very long. At 110 volts at 3000 watts, your looking at 27.3 amps.

If you do need to draw this much power from a single circuit, I would look at 220 volt rated equipment. Then, 3000 watts at 220 volts, your looking at 13.7 amps draw, a lot easier to get electrical wiring installed for.

whats the total on the 12v? The sticker at the back right under 12v there's a big W total. Gimme that. What other devices will you connect to the psu and mobo?

oh ya will be doing video and audio editing. gaming and there is a possibility running a web sight off this in short stints, if needed. and i want to be able to do most of this at once. also dont wanna do another build for several years so having the good stuff now wil help. im really busy with other stuff so the less time i spend doing this the better.... with the exception of gaming XD
 
For those components, a single ST1500 would be enough. You don't need a second one.
 
with out the video cards antec says i will need 1173 watts

if these cards pull 450 w each im over 1500w just there. am i missing some thing id love to save $400 if i can
 
That PSU calculator is not very accurate and it definitely overestimates power consumption. 1500W is definitely enough.
 
Why even waste the money on a "killer NIC" So you're going to make high quality recordings with your nice sound card and play them back on the Killer NIC??? Why not use your sound card for sound? That is what it's there for.

me and a few friend get together on skype for the podcast because we dont live very close to each other. so i need to hear what they are saying. i had two audio cards at one point and my sound quality was way up. it seems when i have sound going in and out from the same card it degrades my sound by noticeable amount. Im buying it because its a USB port audio port and a ethernet port all in one
though it may increase my fps why the eff do i care about 3-4 fps?
 
Power supply calculators tend to grossly overestimate, especially the ones found on power supply company websites and Newegg. In your case, they're overestimating by ~500 watts or more. The smallest overestimation I've seen is in the range of ~50-100 watts, which is fairly significant when you're dealing with low-power systems (400-500 watts).
