I am considering Eheim pumps as i heard they rock hardcore.

Only thinhg is i dunno which pump to get.

THe pump would be hooked up to 2 xeon waterblocks and a double radiator and the xeons would be overclocked pretty hard. THey are 1.6lv so i am gonna push them as far as i can.

Now to the second thing, what diameter tubing would i want? 3/8 or 1/2inch? WOuld 1/2inch provide better cooling?

for two blocks and a big radiator you will want a good amount of power so i would get the ehiem 1250 it uses 1/2 ID tube so that what you should use. the only advantage to 3/8 tube is the tighter bend you can make with it

I saw a similar custom computer being built at Sharka Computers the other day. I believe it was a dual Opteron board with dual peltier coolers in a new Lian-Li PC-V2000B case. I believe they used 1/2" tubing with two 120mm size radiators at different points in the same loop. I can't remember the pump they used though, but I'm pretty sure it was an Eheim :(

Added:

They have a Hydor L30 running, but they prefer to use Eheim pumps. However, the customer is always right ;)

It looks like one of the hose connectors on the Eheim1250 is 3/8....

DO i need an adaptor for the 1/2inch tubing? Or am i reading sometihng wrong?

eheim pumps actually aren't all that great. Now for a pump that "rawks hardcore" you want to get an Iwaki (MD20). You cant buy a better pump than that.

As for the eheim, the mcp600 and the mcp650 will actually outperform it and take up less space to boot. Although the mcp650 is notorious for being noisy, and the eheims are cheaper.

An iwaki (or imitation pump, almost as good) will run you from 100-200+ but for some people they are well worth the investment. Since you are running two blocks you would probably benefit from the decreased restriction of using 1/2" tubing.

well i already bought the pump, but do i need to get any fittings since i am using 1/2 inch tubing?

A fitting would work, or you can get a section of 3/8 tubing, slip that over the barb and then slip the 1/2 over that. You dont want to use the 1/2 on the smaller barb cause then you are just asking for leaks.

Also, the eheim will server you well, dont let my previous response make you think that eheims aren't good...just wanted to let you know they dont exactly "rock hardcore"....they are just simply great reliable pumps.

which fitting do i actually need for the smaller opening?

I am a bit confused. I am new to this water cooling thing and i just got my pump, and don't know where to get this fitting.

What pump did you buy? The Eheim 1250 has 3/4" (suction side) and 1/2" (pressure side) barbs on it. You can probably force fit 1/2" ID tubing onto the 3/4" OD barb and not have to change out any fittings.

Eheim pump specs.

If you do need to change out the suction side fitting be careful not to overtighten the new fitting or you will crack the impeller housing cover as shown in pic below.

cool i'll try force fitting it.
If you can't squeeze the tubing on there, you just need to go to the hardware store and find a fitting with the same pipe thread and a smaller 1/2" barb. I would recommend Nylon fittings, less chance of having your pump spit all over the place like in Mota's pic.
