Watercooling?

I'm new to water cooling and don't really know much about it. I was looking to upgrade my system and actually make it watercooled, I've watch some video on how to set up cooling solution for your computer but I still have many questions about it.

First off, the problems you get with it? Is there any, I think you need to use some kind of Algae killer (kill coil looks to be easy to use) so is that a big problem. And do you ened to refill your system every now and then or basically what kind of maintenance you need to do to your watercooled system?

The other question I was asking is what kind of radiator, pump and reservoir I'll need to cool a Single gpu and a cpu (overclocked for sure)? My case Is an haf 922 So i'm now sure how to install watercooling on it, I know a 240mm rad can be installed on top, not sure about the rest, probable another 120 on at the back of the case.

I'd do this for better cooling and a more silence system, right now when I set my cpu fan to high it sound like a jet engine so.

No real maintenance unless you somehow grow algae... a silver kill coil works well, or you could get something like PT Nuke (a liquid) and put a coupel drops (2-4) in the water when you fill it and that works too. Check the water level in the reservoir once in a while (once a month maybe) to make sure you aren't losing any to evaporation through the tubing (it happens to everyone, really) and top it off if needed.

You'll need at least a 2x120 radiator to cool that. The HAF series cases aren't really the best for watercooling... Two 2x120s would be enough to cool that with quiet fans... a 2x120 and 1x120 minimum in my opinion.

Use this PSU calculator (only use CPU/GPU for wattage calculation) to estimate your heat output. Then check out martinsliquidlab.org or skinneelabs.com for radiator reviews. Both sites list heat rejection for each radiator tested at several fan speeds at several "delta T" water temperatures. Aim for a delta T less than 10 degrees.

How watercooling kits (XSPC Rasa RS240) compare to all-in-one plug and play like the H100 for the cpu?

Can I expand with the rasa kit or the pump is too weak for dual 240 rad? If not, what pump would do the job (and reliable) for this? I'll have to take a look at my case once I'll be home to see how I could set up this.

I'd rather have the Rasa kit than an all-in-one kit like the H100/80/etc.

You could expand the Rasa kit but not a whole lot. I would just buy all separate parts and build a loop from scratch. That way you're not stuck with a weaker pump when you want to expand to a GPU block or two or add more radiators. The Rasa kit's pump is really only suited for the kit, not a whole lot more.

I don't know why you say the HAF series aren't the best for cooling. The smaller HAFs, maybe, but the HAF 932 and HAF X are great for watercooling.

As was said, your best bet is to start from scratch. I prefer using just a killcoil and dropping it in the reservoir.

As for maintenance, just make sure your reservoir is almost full. You will lose water due to evaporation. It is also recommended to completely change out the water once or twice a year.

Only bad thing about the Rasa is the tubing, and the rather cheapo aquarium pump. For the dollar it is a great buy tho'.

Under $250. More than the Rasa kit I'm sure, but if you buy the Rasa kit and want to expand to another radiator, a GPU, and say a motherboard block, you'll have to buy a new pump and reservoir. Might as well get "the good stuff" first and save money in the long run.

How much would a good pump + all the stuff for cpu cooling cost me ?

If you're in the USA, you can get. Rasa setup for ~130-180USD IIRC, depending on which rad you get.. You can get 10' of Primochill of Amazon for 10USD. A new pump and res will run you probably 60USd at least depending on how fancy you want to get.. The only other kits close are H2O units by Swiftech that can be great d2pending on your setup, but will cost $240+.

Rasa is an excellent value which ships with one of the best cpu blocks you can buy, and some of the better radiators. Bad thing about the stock hose, is that over time it turns coca-cola colored. The pump is only a downer because it lacks head.

250$ for a single 240 rad a pump a reservoir and some tubing? wut

And a waterblock. A block is $70+, res $30+, tubing $10, fittings $30, rad $70, pump $50+...it adds up. And the swifty kit does save some money over separate parts at retail pricing.
