Watercooling Setup

Hello everyone, i'm a bit new to the forums, and i'm looking to start a watercooling rig. I currently am running a barton 2500+ on an abit nf7-s 2.0 with an antech 350w psu, radeon 9700pro with a zalman fanless heatpipe cooler, 2 80gb seagate sata hd's.

I'm trying to get the system running cooler and quieter as well as i'd like to overclock to at least 3200+ speeds. I know i can get 2.0 ghz out of it (done it already) and im sure it can go higher. Anyway, i'm also wanting to put it into a lian-li 6070 case (all internal! important! i want this thing whisper quiet!)

i'm just looking for adivce as to what watercooling setup to get. If it makes a difference i live in toronto, and i'd like something lookin as neat as scanido's post on pg 2 of the watercooling pics thread

Thanks for any help...

All he had was a black ice extreme radiator, a eheim 1250 (i think) pump and a swiftech 5000 waterblock. His fill method is merely a t-fitting with some tubing and a plug.

Are you only cooling your CPU, or are you adding a vid block and NB block? If you are adding both, consider making a second loop for those, since those blocks will restrict waterflow and increase your CPU temps as a result. For vidcard and NB cooling, an 80mm rad should be sufficient.

Making it look nice is all up to you. Many people swear by the Lian-Li PC70 or the YY cube as both have huge amounts of room to play with.

i'm pretty sure i don't want to cool the videocard, however i dont know if i need to cool the NB in order to get higher clock speeds.. any advice on that? Would the one black ice extreme rad be enough to cool NB and CPU?

Anyway, i'm also receptive to other wcing setups.. looking for anything silent and compact with decent performance..

Thanks

Mike

Go CPU only for now...and just make sure you ahve a fan on your northbridge sink. If you reach a plateau where you think your NB could use a boost...then do it.

Keep in mind NB and VGA blocks will slow down your flowrates, and for an OC'ers setup..that is all bad. So if you want utmost performance , go dual loops. One loop CPU only...the other loop everything else. If you get the right resevior, you can feed both loops from it.

Black Ice Extreme is the most popular "finished" radiator for a reason...it works well. I bet it would work fine running plenty of blocks...aslong as your flowrate isn['t screwed up though.

My rig uses slightly different parts though. I'm a fan of speedfit connectors...but I haven't OCed anyhting more than a vidcard in years, and went the quiet PC route myself. So in that aspect, my rig may not be the best for you...but I do reccomend the JR-120 heatercore with a fan and shroud as a cheaper alternative to the Black Ice Extreme.
