Watercooling not Cool?

I am planning to upgrade to conroe pretty soon and I want to do some serious overclocking so I have been trying to make sure my water cooling system is in good order. I have an Athlon XP 3000 running at stock speed with a 120MM radiator with a 57cfm rated fan and 3/8 tubing and a Danger Den Maze 4 block and CSP Mag pump. My computer shut down from overheating one night after not having happened for a long time and I looked at my radiator fan and it was going slow so I replaced it with a better one. Before I did that after cleanign soem dust out and what not I was getting readings of 46-48 celsius temps at idle and 54-56 temps doing super pi. Now I got a new case and running 2 120mm fans on the radiator and 1 120mm fan on my hard drives and flushed out and replaced my fluid and I am getting 44celsius temps at idle and 50-54celsius at load.

This seems fairly hot to me, ambient is around 75. Also the voltage is reading 1.73 or 1.78 dont remember which seems high too. I don't remember what temps I was getting when I first went water cooling so I don't have anything to compare to. Do you guys think the readings could be off, for some reason my voltage is high, or the maze 4 block just isn't that great and it will be better with a swiftech apogee?
 
Track down a swiftech 6002a for a excellent block and get a 2x or 3x 120 rad. Go to 1/2" and run straight water if just water cooling. no additives, They do not help and do not carry the heat as well as just water alone.
Don't know the heat dump on the Conroes but I know over on XS they are the cat's meow right now. If you want to read up on people who have them allready check it out.

And yes the temps seem real high.
My opty 144 OC'ed to 2.2 running Boinc 24/7 on air never go over 44c @ 100% load
 
Voltage seems a bit high, do you know what core (ie Thoroughbred/Barton) you have?
 
Its a barton. I bought a Swiftech apogee because I am going to socket LGA 775 soon and I put that on and it only lowered my temps by about 1 or 2 degree. How tightly should the waterblock be contacting the CPU? Will that make a difference on the temps? Also when I changed the cpu block the water wasn't even hot, if the cpu is running at 54 celsius that is hotter than the hottest water setting for most homes which is about 51 which will burn your hand yet my water is barely lukewarm.
 
Arctic Silver 5 although I didn't have any on hand when I put the swiftech on I used the thermal paste that came with the apogee. When I get my new processor I will have arctic silver and apply that.
 
The Apogee comes with Artic Alumina Ceramique so it's pretty close to AS5 in terms of thermal capacity. The Barton's have a on die temp diode and depending on the mobo it could be giving temps from it or the under CPU diode. I've noticed that the on die diode reads alarmingly high.
