How would this work?

Right now I have a pump mounted in a bulky res on top of the case, and I have an idea for something a little more slimline. This should allow a semi-closed loop, and make the fill/bleed easier. It should allow the air to escape, and not pressurize the res. It would also be easier to keep an eye on the water level. What do you think?
 
All that setup accomplishes is using that reservoir as a expensive and impractical T-line. Save yourself the tubing and clutter and just make a 6 inch T line before the pump inlet. Filling is just as easy, and serves the exact function that you mention in your post.
 
Filling is actually what I thinking about. I'm not too graceful, and the idea of pouring water INSIDE my PC in a funnel is a little scary. If I could flip that top, and pour in a little my blood-pressure would certainly be lower.

Thats why you usually fill with all your nice expensive hardware outside the case. When you use a T line, its usually at the bottom of the case next to the pump anyway so even if you do spill, it will be on the bottom of your case and not your harddrives, mobo or videocard. Funnels and smaller pouring containers are also smart. I just think that making and using that silly huge reservoir just for the ease of filling is just odd.
 
Here are a couple of options:

1) Install WCing components. Run lines and finalize. Remove from system and fill/bleed. Replace in case and install waterblock/radiator/pump.

2) Fill the system with power REMOVED. DUH. Even if you do spill it won't hurt a thing as long as there is no power applied to the system.
 
you're right. I think I'll actually just run the fill tube out the back of the case in a small run like you're suggesting. Then you don't have to look at that res, and waste a foot of tubing with that.
