Watercooling Install Question

OK, I'm waiting on all my parts to come in (Exos, blocks) and I'm beginning to wonder how to get the cooler installed on my GPU. Allow me to explain.

My plan is to temporarily mount the blocks in their places without compund and then measure, cut and install the lines on the blocks. Then I'll take the blocks off, fill the system and leak test with the blocks outside the case. I'll probably put a bucket below the parts and a plastic sheet over the case to separate the WC system from my other components. Here's where I start to get confused.

For leak testing, it will be easy enough to remove the video card and pop off the waterblock with everything assembled, but what do I do when it comes time to re-install the block on the GPU? I'll have a completed loop with all the blocks and I won't be able to just lay the card down on a table and install the block. The block will be dangling in mid air because of the lines connected to it. So how do I go about installing the block in this situation?

I need some good sage advise from all you WC veterans. Including corrections of any silly assumptions or plans I have made.

Thanks.

Something tells me you already figured this out......trust me...i dont mean to sound like a prick...but you will be able to figure this out quite easy. Also, dont feel you have to be exact with your tube lenghts...leave some room so that you can move components around in your case without re installin new tubing. I have an exos and it's pretty straightforward to set up.

^^^^ What he said , when you got all the parts laid out infront of you and do a few searches about installing WC'in you will see it's not to bad. Just make sure everything is sealed properly. I was pretty nervous my first attempt at WC'in , even ran into a few problems. Though as soon as you figure how it all works it becomes really easy....least to me.

I did it exactly as you said you were going to do it. Putting the bloc on the vid card with it hooked to the hoses is not as hard as you think. You want HARD, sleeve a psu.

Thanks for the replies. I guess your consensus is that it won't be a big deal. I'm used to installing things on a flat surface like a table or at least the floor and I'm not sure how this will play out.

I guess I'll have to wait until I get into it.

BTW, Exos owners, can I disconnect the tubing from the back of the unit without draining it? This would solve my whole problem as I could install the GPU block and then feed the tubes back through the PCI slot hole and reconnect it.

BTW, got the Exos today. She's pretty... :D

you can install it in mid-air - no problems. takes some fiddling with it, but easily doable. :D

both socket and plug that connects the tubing to the EXOS have shut-off valves - just put a napkin underneeth it when you disconnect, because a small amount of liquid does seep out initially, but that's all. just pop those suckers off and back on at will.
