so right now i have an very loud and annoying setup: amd 64 3200+, Coolermaster Praetorian... The thing is i was thinking of water cooling because i could drop a few degrees on the cpu temp and reduce the noise, but i didnt want to have to try to cram all the water cooling crap into the case. What i was thinking is that i could put the water cooling stuff in the bottom drawer of my desk and then just get a bit stronger pump and send the tubing out the side about 4 feet up to the back of the desk and send it in the back of the case through a pci slot, like how the zalman radiator thing sends the water in. The thing about the distance from the drawer to the top of the desk is that it is a very gradual slope.
What do you guys think about this? This will be my first water-cooling setup also, so i was wondering if you could suggest any good parts to use for this.
Thanks in advanced.
PS - i did look around the form for info, but i didnt see anyone who had the same idea to send from a drawer.

The drawer is the bottom right one and the tubing would go up into the corner

gravity has almost no effect on a closed loop system, so you should be ok.

You will def. need a good pump and might want to consider some 1/2" ID tubing.

It could work, but how will you get power to the fans down there?

thanks for the answer, and as for the power i guess i just didnt think about that. That would suck the power couldn't reach it, i'll have to think this over :).

you could put a seperate powersupply down there, nothing specail just an el cheapo one as long as you use an AC pump.

but why not put it in your case?

isn't the praetorian a rather large case?

it does have some nice room, but i wasn't sure if i wanted to have all the stuff in there. But i was thinking maybe i should just get a pump put it in the cdrom drive area, the radiator down under the harddrives, and then have the a nice cylinder reservoir on the back of the case.

I was looking at frozencpu and i picked out the following
For my Athlon 64 3200+
For Radeon 9800
Around 5 feet
The pump
Radiator w/ Sunon 120x38mm
And i dont have a reservoir picked out.
What do you think?

By the way the reason i wanted to put the stuff in a drawer below it is because i thought i would look cleaner in the case, and i just thought it be a cool idea.

you might want to look elsewhere, frozencpu is usually extremely pricey on their stuff

All of those are good choices. You could save a good amount of money by buying a car heatercore. That tubing looks kinda like a rip off to me.

If convience is very important and money is not so much of an object then go ahead, but you could save yourself some money by buying

you could save a lot of money by buying Item # 5231K227 (page 85) at MCMaster.com (34 cents a foot).
A chevette or some other small car heatercore less the $20 (you'll need to put your own fittings on it but if you can mod your case putting on some fittings shouldn't be to hard).

Also you'll need some clamps. I like snap grip clamps for ease of use. But many people like worm drive clamps.

ok, that sounds like a good idea to me. i wasnt planning on buyinf from frozencpu because i live on the west coast, i was just using it for reference. Do you have any good suggestions for a website/store to buy the stuff?
For the heater core, do you know where i could purchase one, and do you know how big it would be?
By the way thanks for the help :D

thanks for the links, and all the help. Sorry it took so long, i accidently ripped the cord out of my power button and had to solder it back on :)

good luck.

I'm finalizing my own wc'ing rig to build around christmas.

I suggest you do some reading, you can save yourself a lot of money, time and trouble.

ya i've been looking around the net and have found some reviews, by the you should post some pics of your rig when you get it all together. I'm guessing it will be a pretty nice setup

Just use a screwdriver to short the two pins on the motherboard to power up.

i'll keep that in mind, but i already got it fixed. I had to buy some more solder cause i couldnt find mine.
