Under $150, imho, you'd be better off with aircooling Think Tuniq Tower or Thermalright Ultra 120... or the upcoming Thermalright IFX-14 aka Infernal Fire eXtinguisher
Yup.. I even have doubts about my custom setup, which I'm about to undertake, and it costs more than Nautilus.. I wanted to get Ultra 120 Extreme but it was so slow to get to the market that I got Fuzion/D4/Single Heatercore (which is like 140x140mm rad)... I think it should perform just about the same as Ultra 120 Extreme... I hope anyways
Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with Nautilus, it's great for checking out the whole watercooling deal but in terms of performance, I don't think it's really worth the money spent...
I started with a budget of $150 and raised it to a little over $200. Then it ended up closer to $300 and I'm still only cooling the CPU. It gets expensive. I think it came out around $600-$700 for what I actually want to settup.
I have two Nautilus 500's and they seem to be a hit or a miss to be frank. One of them is cooling a stock Intel E6700 and it idles at about 35 and loads at about 55.
However on my QX6700 stock it would idle at about 45 and load at about 65 - 68. Of course, mine was the one that the pump died on and wasn't working properly. They're great units, but you're taking a chance. There seems to be 3 types seeing they mounted the pump inverted when they weren't supposed to.
One works perfectly like it's supposed to and runs quiet, another runs a little noisier and doesn't cool quite as well (the one cooling the E6700 seems to be this variety) and then the one that acts like the second one, but doesn't cool as well and suddenly dies.
I keep finding story after story of this happening.
To be honest, if I had to do it again I would just build a custom setup. If the RMA'd Nautilus doesn't work better than the first one, I will be doing just that.
I just went for it and bought the Swiftech H2O-220 Apex Ultra. Only concern I had with this kit was the 1/2 tubing fitting in my back plates.. I dont want to drill holes.....
