watercooled sg05

I had planned on making my own 180mm radiator for my build then decided it was too much work and just got a H70. This thread makes me want to make one again. I wish someone made a 180mm Rad... lol

just had a conversation around this, XD. cj3waker did point out antec makes a 200mm rad for their Big Boy fans...

Swiftech's website says it can be undervolted.

nice fine, right on the site, who'd have thought.. I think ill try a 9v resistor in there and see how it does.
For the loop, it was the easiest way to route that made sense. coldest water should be coming from the rad, and I wanted it into the gpu first, because the gpu gets hotter than the cpu

i give up, were 2/2 jeremy

high end itx air cooling in a custom case soon to come though, should be just as slick

just came across this , simply amazing stuff

im trying to build a sg05 too soon i hope, i was just thinking of the h50 never done a water cool or much mods before, so im learning its all new to me.

i have a question - IF you could build the sg05 Case yourself how would you design, thats what iv been asking myself last few days.

i would add a fan to the front plastic case (slim 12mm)
i would have also put the psu in the front of the case and the rad at the back above the mobo ( ceiling mounted)

this brings me to think one thing , buy some sheets and build myself, but iv got to start slow as that would me too big of a mod for me, but then i see you guys mod the sg05, and i dont get it cost wise its through the roof.

guess il never understand it, but never the less its cool! thumbs up!

I'm sorry man :(
yeah, I had trouble believing air cooling could be sufficient, until I tried it. :( At least we tried... I guess the size and sheer little annoyances (I had a small rattle noise I never resolved; sizewise, it was a wee too small to easily change out; both of us maybe WC virgins? lol; and the fact that any assembly was unusually difficult). But then again, I think the biggest reason was both of us were somehow aiming mostly at silence - and this never really got us there :(

I hope to do it again, someday. But it surely won't be mITX. Since I have the parts laying here, maybe once I get a P180mini again (I love this case, it's just a wee bit too large right now) or something :p

EDIT: the biggest turnoff for me was actually finding out how silly quiet the TWIN FROZER II was, lol...

Stock looking monster. :p

PSU up front will block off all front fan airflow, effectively, due to the HDD cage already being there. Originally, SS has some ideas of a card reader in the front, which explains the punchout, replaceable lowerfront bezel, and the small mounting lug inside. Fan uptop has a some very nice advantages, and I think that's why the desgin was used in the SG07 - the massive AP181 uptop.

The H50 is easy to install, and use, in the SG05. Mobo compatibility is a minor issue you may have to work out, however, the H50 itself is okay :)

How did you mount the swiftech micro res? Did you use the brackets that came with it or?

Would be really happy if u replied since im thinking of building something similar (only gonna watercool the cpu tho).

/Wilson

I used the brackets and just drilled 3 holes in the case to mount screw the brackets down. and also some velcro
