Waterblocks for Core Duo/socket 479 ???

I just bought a Core Duo MB, AOpen i975Xa-YDG Socket 479 to be exact, and was wandering if there are any waterblocks availiable to fit the board. I really don't want to give up water at this point...

I have already checked Danger Den and can't find any info.
 
Don't despair, they won't want to miss out on that market.

What does the socket look like?
 
Here is a link on Newegg to the motherboard I bought. Looks similar to the P4 layout, and my socket 478 RBX might just fit. If it does, I'll replace it with a TDX or something else. Getting tired of the RBX and two outfeed tubes...

Didn't see a 975 anywhere on Newegg...are you sure it's not a 945?

Anyhoo, surely there's a way to use the stock intel mounting bracket?
 
Nope, not a 945 chipset. A-Open is the only manufacturer I know of making a socket 479 board with the 975 chipset.

If it has the P4-Style mounts than any S478 WB will work, just be careful on those bare cores. if it has the 4-hole mount around the socket, your out of luck- there is no waterblock available for that mount.
 
I know that the mount is close to P4 but it covers two of the mounting holes, and to get it to work would require modifying it .I would just wait ,(i read this little bit about it on the Xtreme forums)~good luck ,Sounds like a killer cpu/mainboard!! [H]
 
Uhhh.... While I had a mobo to check compatability I found out that my RBX does indeed fit the socket 479 onj the A-Open board! :eek: Mabe this thing will get H2O'd after all!

The board needs to be RMA'd though, because of a cracked heatsink retention mechanism and a power regulator that fell off while I was inspecting the board before install. I checked the RBX after I found the problems.
 
Thats Cool that it fits the Aopen boards,good catch,now waiting for the rma is going suck ,but it should nice when you get it back and watercooled! l8tr
 
It's going to be a while before I put this baby on water. For now Zalman is going to keep my stuff cool.

I have to redesign the whole cooling setup, and I just might go with a smaller tubing setup with multiple loops. I also have to get a new case for that. The old one, an Antec Solution SLK3700-BQE, just doesn't have the room for an "all in the case" water setup, even with an externally mounted radiator. I had the old water setup (radiator, fans, pump, and resivoir) in an external tower next to my PC, which got quite cumbersome when I had to move it.

What I really want to do is build a custome case (a woody 'cuz I'm a woodworker) with everything layed out where I want it.
