water pump - mounted on its side?

I have the swiftech, it's magnetically driven and it shouldn't have a prob with the side mounting....not that those facts have anything to do with one another.....


It's heavy though, a friend mounted his on hte side with the intended screw mounts and it began to tear at the wall of the case...
 
I have an Eheim 1048 that is horisontally mounted, been that way for half a year now, runs great!
