alright.. my girlfriend poured a good 2 - 3oz. of water on out laptop.. not all of it got on.. it landed on the keyboard.. anyway.. we immediate shut of the laptop (nothing seemed to get screwed up when the water fell on it)...

so.. how long should i wait so that water can dry off.. also.. would you guys recommended me using a blow dryer? or a fan or something on the laptop???

Thanks,

This really sucks cause she has important stuff for school.. including study material for a test we have tomorrow, and a lab report due tomorrow.. along with important VHDL code for computer architecture..

the keyboard might be damaged. You should dry it off and take apart your laptop if you fell comfortable doing such to make sure that nothing electrical got damaged. You might have to end up buying a new keyboard if it is damaged. I have a sony laptop keyboard from a laptop if you want you could buy that off me for $5 plus shipping

Goodluck

if it landed on the keyboard:

remove the keyboard. it should pop out, look in manual or online for the model.

evaporating:

hell, until the thing drys. i'd say leave it somewhere real dry so the air will absorb the moisture.

how did you turn the pc off? did you use the touchpad/think stick to turn it off or pull the battery? i'd say the keyboard is prob lost. hard drive data? get an external enclosure to hook it up to another computer and get the files from it.

Remove the battery and turn it upside down, i.e. on the keyboard. That way any water flows down out of the laptop. Leave it this way and don't try to power it on for several days.

Do what was suggested, then, assuming the hard drive is dry, go to CompUSA and get a 2.5" enclosure for the laptop drive for $20, that way you can get the files you need til the laptop drys. Its more than you would pay online for one, but time restrictions cost money.
