Hi, id like some reccomendations on a nice system, the cheaper the better and preferably as quiet as possible. Low maintenance also.

Or just a quick review of whatever you've used. (im looking for personal expierience with a product and something that will adequetely cool a mid range system, amd perferably)

not the EXOS, EXOS = loud! (not to say its a bad WC system or anything)

you can get good kits here:
dangerden.com
swiftnets.com
cooltechica.com - (aquaextreme-xg looks good;))

D-tec White Water block = $50 bucks
Maxijet 1200 pump = $25 bucks
Custom built reservior = $8 bucks (plexi and glue)
B&M oil cooler = $35 bucks
20' feet of 1/2" ID nylon braid hose = $16 bucks
Various fittings/hardware = $7 Bucks

Grand total: $139.00
Some of the stuff I had laying around so it actually only cost me $130. I have the cooler mounted inside a window AC unit.
Temps:
CPU @ idle: 23* - 25*C
CPU @ Load: 26* - 29*C
System Idle: 26* - 27*C
System Load 28* - 30*C (It's only hit 30*C once)

Im looking for quiet and reliable, price is also important. Reliability is key, thanks for the replies i hope theres more :)

(mainly im looking for your impressions of whatever setups you've used.)

it's $200 on fry's outpost but the swiftech 8501 kit isn't bad for an all in one setup. i'd suggest getting the chipset cooler, the extra rad and the y connectors though. watercooling's an investment, you can take it from one system to the other--you dont wanna go cheapie on it.

oh--the thing that's great about the 8501 is that it doenst use a reservoir--it's airtight, which means NO maintenence. reservoirs are for, well, i'm not gonna go there...

cgrant26, what ind of hardware are you running? a pIII? thos temps are mighty cool, i'm openly envious.

My system specs:
MSI KT3 Ultra2 W/Raid
XP2500+ Barton
512mb GEIL Ultra Platinum PC3500
Radeon 9800 Pro
I have 2 Vantec Tornados for case ventilation. 1 92mm blows in and the 80mm Blows out. I also have a 120mm Al Evercool window fan for airflow over the AGP/PCI slots.

Also, reserviors are not stupid. 1.5 gallons of extra water capacity goes a long way towards helping me get my temps where they are. It also makes filling my system a whole lot easier.

good cooling on a closed circuit is a lot more practical than a reservoir, i think many would agree. i'm using a swiftech stock fan over my radiator and it's almost second nature for me to turn the rpms on that thing down..when my hand's not on the mouse, it's on the cooldrive4...

my temps are in the 40s, but it's really, really, really, really, really quiet.
really.

My load temps are about 41-42°C when vcore is ~2.1v and at 2.5ghz. This is with a Panaflo L1A :D.

DD Maze3 (antiquated)
Dtek 'FSB'
DD Maze4 GPU
1/2" ID clearflex 60
Danner Mag3
Chevette heater core
Panaflo L1A

Yes, it is damned quiet.

forgot to give my specs:

DDMaze-4
Dtek Procore (heatercore) w/ Panaflow M1A
Swiftec MCW50 GPU
1/2 ID
Eheim 1250
5.25 Bay Res

And get temps around 38/39C idle, and 41-45 load (abit temp sensors) , with 1.7Vcore, 3.0 @ 3.75, 250FSB

Note: Quiet setup, the loudest thing in my comp is my NB fan;)

IMO, the only way a reservior is not practical is if you move your system a lot. (I.E. lan parties, Etc.) My main system never moves so using a res is in no way an inconvience for me. Closed loop makes it really hard to get all the bubbles out as there is no place where the flow is slowed down enough to release air bubbles while the pump is running and with it off, those bubbles end up deposited in your radiator or block(s). The big ones can be gotton, but it's the little ones that may never be completely removed.

Also, as far as noise goes, A window AC unit doesn't bother me one bit and with my Rheobus, my Tornado fans can't be heard over it.

the closed circuit allows you to get rid of bubbles. it's based on a reservior setup--it's just that once the circuit is full, and the air is out, you close off the reservoir part. bubble free, i promise.

after this forum i feel like it really is all about opinion--my main machine never moves (unless i pop the door open) but i dont like the idea of the tank of water--of having to maintain it. in fact, if they didnt have closed ceicuits, i would probably be (vapo)chilling. I dont like the idea of maintenence...like i'll upgrade her, but i odnt wanna have to give her 'gas' every now and then.

i'm actually thinking about taking the next step and doing a thermoelectric/watercooling hybrid setup. i hear condensation can be a problem though.....
