Water Cooling Set up Help

Hi guys, been lurking around here and I have found a great deal of information from the forum.

I have a BTX system using an Armor 8000 series and I am planning on getting the BigWater 735 kit for it. My question is would it be OK if I add a VGA block and the Aquabay M1 WITHOUT adding another radiator or upgrading the water pump..

the aquabay m1 is just a res / flow meter so it doesn't necessarily need 'extra cooling' .

i run a VGA block + CPU block on a single 120mm rad. sure you could drop the temps a little with a 240 (2x120mm radiator) but 120 will work.

also, is there a particular reason you're going w/ the Thermaltake kit specifically?

I have a BTX system and the only CPU block that I found which supports it is a Thermaltake. I will also be getting the Bigwater 735 at a discount ($120 US).
 
oic. BTX has different mounting i assume?

you should be fine. my rig is in my sig and i posted a few temps there as well.

some would argue that CPU + GPU should have 240 but a 120mm radiator is sufficient imo.
 
what is you setup?? put it in your sig. Also I thought BTX is just upside down ATX?
 
Well, dell and gateway both offer BTX, so I'd assume your system is gutted from one of those, since it's damn impossible to buy BTX. Correct me if I'm wrong. But, their mounting systems are both different.

I might be wrong, but standard 775 mounting should fit. Or maybe just buy the mounting plate, ghetto rig it to a better block, and have watercooling the way you want.
 
yea - i was gonna guess big-corporate-branded pc (dell, gateway, hp etc).

my old school compaq used standard intel mounts...

OP - are you sure that your mounts are in fact different?
(not the board / layout but the actual mounts on the socket)
 
Hi guys, thank you for your replies and sorry if i didn't ge to reply soon.

Well, I got my system because a friend of mine works on a store and I got the Intel 955 Extreme Edition for cheap so I decided to try BTX =) I am running a P4 551 on it and yes the mounting of the water block or fan for it is different (you can check the thermaltake website for the liquid cooling and you will see how it is different. The air flow is better but not that much so I undersand why it will be a dying technology.
 
Ok. I dug around a bit, and I find out that the thermaltake brazing series comes with the btx plate.

Maybe try pm'ing the TT rep on this board, and ask him real nicely (sexual favors work well too) for just the base plate, then ghetto rig it with another block, something like the alphacool NeXXos XP.
