Water cooling pump not working

Hi. I just moved my computer parts into a new water cooling case. It's a water cooling case that came with the kit. My problem is that the pump isn't working, it ran and filled the tubes, water block and radiator with coolant but the pump isn't running now and its not cooling the CPU. After I turned the system on, it fills the whole water system about until 80-90 percent the pump just stops running causing the coolant not to move through the system.

Hope someone could help me with this I'm going to redo the tubes again for the time being.

Case: Thermaltake Kandalf LCS VD4000BWS
Power Supply: 850W OCZ GameXStream

Should I get a new pump like this?

I'm not sure, but the pump isn't running. I guess one of the tubes was empty at one point and it stayed empty because the pump isn't running.

Most pumps will not run unless you have them primed. That means you have to have water in the pump.

I don't think there is anything wrong, you just have to get the system filled all the way. A pump that isn't self-priming can't run without water moving through it at all times. Essentially what's happening is your pump is getting air through it and it's stalling out.

How do i fill it all the way? The pump isn't pumping anymore how would I get more coolant through?

Take a tube off that is going to the pump and use a syringe or turkey baster to put water in. Put tube back on and restart. :)

If your using push-fits it's a piece of cake. If your using barbs it's a PITA.

Sorry. Do I add coolant into the pump?

Alright. I tried it and I end up getting all the coolant out of the system. All the water just kept coming out of the pump, and I tried refilling the tank and running the pump. I kind of think the pump just doesn't work anymore. Nothing is running through the tubes and the pump isn't vibrating or making more noise.

My cooling case is VD4000BWS. This is a water cooling kit case. What kind of pump do I need to buy?

Got a link to where you bought it from? So we can see what you got going right now? Or perhaps some pics?

Is the pump powering up at all. Do you hear any whirring or whining noises? If it's not powered up at all, consider rewiring the molex. The D5's have a habit of being wired wrong with the molex pins being in the wrong position (no joke). This solves like over 50% of all the RMA problems of D5 pumps.

I suggest you take it back to wherever you got it and ask for another one.

I had it install like this one time, but I took it all apart now so I could get the around the tubes, redo the thermal paste, and stuff.

It could be possible my pump short circuit or something, just wan to know where I could get my new pump.

I just fill the inlet with coolant and fill the system as much as possible. Turn the pump on by itself to cycle some of the water through and fill the rest of the system. I just watch it carefully and make sure that the pump never runs out of coolant while cycling the system. Once I have all the coolant into it then I finish bleeding the system and top off the res or T-line if necessary. This method has worked for me flawlessly now several times.

My pump won't turn on. I want to know why it breaks so fast.

I think you killed your pump by running it dry. From the sounds of it you never filled up the loop all the way at the start. You must never run the pump dry.
