Water cooling my main rig...

I'm thinking about grabbing a 110v pump and a tupperware container as a res. I have a small fridge peltier unit that I may drop into the water. Should make for some nice, cold water...but I'll have to run it for a few days to make sure there's gonna be no condensation. If it's too cold, I may toss the radiator into the line first and use it to pass some cooler air into the case and warm the water a bit before it hits the CPU.

Ohhh you're going ghetto, I can't really help you there. But I agree with the others, you don't know what you're missing using that Tt cpu block. But if it works ok for you, I wouldn't bother spending another 50+ for a new one. Be careful about condensation with that chiller, I'd hate to see your boxen end up in the died in the line of duty thread!
 
I doubt the chiller will cause too much of a drop in temps. I ghetto'd it into a small igloo cooler to keep my beer cold, and it was less than freezing. I figure it'll just drop a few degrees, but you never know. I was running it fanless there. Now, I have a 12cm fan for it.
 
OK, got the pump set up. Running the SMP client at 3.5Ghz and it's STILL running at 52c. Not bad. I tried to post at 3.66 but the ram gave out. Looks like 700Mhz is it's max. (667mhz ram)

Did you get the RMA pump or a new(real) one that wasn't made by Tt?
 
I'm gonna RMA the pump, but I went Ghetto. I got a small fountain pump in a tupperware container.

In this pic, I was testing it at low speed. I used the T splitter to split the incoming water just cause ;) (Click for more detail)




I know, the hose from the block to the radiator looks kinked...it is not, it's just the angle of the pic.


It's running great...I was worried for a bit, but it seems to have plenty of flow. The only issue is that the pump is sending a little vortex of air bubbles. They build up for a few seconds in high areas, then they pop off up the return line. Fortunately they're only hanging out in hose sections, not in the radiator or the waterblock.
 
Haha WOW you did go ghetto. Hopefully the flow of that pump is more than what it looks like in that first pic. How air tight is your tupperware? If its not air tight you're gonna start having some evaporation problems but I would think the pump intake is toward the bottom of the pump. Probly have to refill every month or so. Just don't go on a long vacation :)
 
I sealed the holes in the top with silicone, the sides are good enough to hold a seal. That first pic was with the pump on it's lowest setting. On high, it's nearly hitting the walls. :D
