Yup. Bought a Bigwater 735 kit to go with my Armor case. I'm about to pull the motherboard to install this, as of right now, Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool shows both CPU's running 67-68c at 100% load, OC'd to 3.1Ghz (e6700). I'll be back in a few minutes with the new temps...

F U THERMALTAKE! F U AND YOUR LACK OF ANY TYPE OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT!

I got the kit installed, a real PITA since you have to bolt the block to the motherboard. So, got it ripped apart, got it installed, plumbed it up, filled the tank. Powered it up and booted. and crashed. Crashed hard with a thermal warning. Looked at the rig, no liquid in the pipes. The pump was not running. Ok, call Thermaltake...can't call, only support option...the ONLY support option is to log on to their website. No phone number. Nada. Well...wouldn't be a problem if I didn't freaking have to use the PC THAT WON"T RUN! Argh. So I thought, I'd better cool this CPU down, I could see vapor forming in the waterblock. So I pulled the return hose off the tank and sucked some liquid up to the cpu, then thought, Why not use the extra hose length to bob coolant between the radiator and the CPU to get it cooled faster? So I powered the system on, sucked a bit of coolant, and just barely got the hose back on the return port on the tank before the system could piss all over me. So I suck started my damn liquid cooling system. Glad I didn't spray my system...or drink that green shit myself. Anyway, running at 3.1ghz again, and at 45-47c. MUCH better.




Also...the heat cratered my OS, so I spent the last bloody hour re-installing windoze. Thanks for that thermaltake.

The first four are with the flash on, the last one is on my tripod with flash off and the apeture set on auto, that's as low as I could get the tripod to go, but it's a freaking awesome pic.

Gotta love that rat's nest...but there's power and a ribbon cable to the Fatal1ty card, then 5 SATA cables and power to them, plus power to the pump, three 12cm fans and two 8cm fans...and the monster 25cm fan on the side. So it's almost full. I only have room for two more 5.25 drives, one 3.5 drive externally, and four 3.5 drives on the inside. :D

Air takes up space that could be used for more HDD's. It's overrated.

Well, It ran all day and the log shows temps between 44 and 48c. Not sure why core 1 is constantly 2c over core 0, but it's still below 120f. Not bad for a 400Mhz OC. I do wish it would run stable at higher speeds...so I need some pencil trick or a "goldfinger" device to unlock the multiplier ;)

I think the ram is holding back the clock at this point, it's Mushkin 667 DDR2. I really should upgrade to some 1066 ram, but I just spent a load of cash on a water rig...so maybe after payday. Oh...today is payday :p



 
WOOHOO! Hit 3.5Ghz fully stable...but at 62-64c while folding so I throttled it back. I was right, the ram was killing me, so I set the FSB at 333 and the ram to 1:1 and BAM! I was even able to get the timings to 3-3-3-10.

Bringing back the dead.

Just a little update. I came home, and my system was turned off. Odd, so I turned it on. Flames shot out of the rear vent of the pump. No water is leaking, but my Fatal1ty has some smoke damage...hope that's all it is. I guess the stock cooler goes on this weekend, I hope the CPU didnt't cook off, I had the MOBO set to shut down the system at 75c...so if it worked I should be good. I shot a message off to thermaltake, hopefully they'll just send me a new pump. Bastards don't have a phone number listed, the only offered support is a form on their webpage with a 24-72 hour turnaround.

Oh man that sucks! Always makes you nervous when you realize something went wrong with the cooling system. Everything should be just fine though, although i like to keep my thermal shutdown a bit lower. I set it to the high end of air cooled temps since if my cpu gets that warm, there's something wrong with the cooling loop.

Good luck with getting it all back and running. If TT screws you, might want to look into a getting a good pump to replace it.
 
It wouldn't be nice to say "that's what you get for buying thermaltake" so I'll say: That really sucks. I hope they pull their collective head out of their ass and get on the ball with customer support and quality control.
 
Well, I got an E-Mail from them. I can get a replacement IF I can find the recipt...the two month old recipt. I really need to get better about keeping up with those. I guess I'll hit Compusa tomorrow and grab some longer SATA cables and use this opportunity to try and clean up my wiring.
 
Yeah I'm kinda leaning toward mwarps here, that sucks. And sadly, thermaltake's watercooling isn't the greatest. Did you order it online? If so you might be able to get the receipt out of your email.

And if you bite the bullet and stick with WC and want to go a different brand, I'd recommend anything other than themaltake or coolermaster. :) Danger den, swiftech, or d-tek all make excellent stuff. I personally ordered most of my swiftech gear from jab tech, but I recently ordered some new tubing and pentosin from petra's tech shop, they put a hand written note in my order saying what a good value the masterkleer tubing is, made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

 
My plan at this point is to drop the OC, toss in the stock cooler, and pull the water gear. In a month or two, I'm gonna grab a better pump, and sell the replacement thermaltake pump on eBay to re-coup some of the cost. I know I have the recipt...problem is it's in the pile of paper and junk on the floor in my corner.



 
I really love me Swiftech Apex wc setup. Quality parts, good price and keeps everything nice and chilly.
 
Not to say there aren't good out of the box solutions out there, but if you can assemble an OEM kit, you can build your own. :)
 
Yeah, The pump blows, that's a given at this point, but the radiator sits perfectly in my Thermaltake Armor case...it should, it was built for it...and the CPU block is <borat> very nice. </borat> I'll probably get an external tank and a pump with a better head so I can toss a waterblock on my soon to be installed 8800gts.

At the time (almost 2 yrs ago) it was the best option for the $. The storm block was about the best you could buy, came w/ a d5 pump and a 2x120 rad all the parts I wanted. My first go in water was a dtek 120 rad, a LRWW block and a garden pond pump :)

I'm sure the OP can definately build his own setup as well.
 
Yeah you could keep the block and rad, grab a DCC and a res or a T to make a T line and you're set for about 85 bucks. Getting a real pump like the DCC will let you add a GPU block later, although I start to doubt the heat dumping ability of that single 120mm rad if you add a 8800GTS into the loop. Unless you've got an armor jr you could easily stand up a dual 120 rad in the front of your armor case. I've got a similar case, aerocool coolview, and I've got my dual 120 standing up in the front. As a point of reference my cpu is at 3.5ghz and I've got a 7800GT in the loop and I'm at about 41C all day long for folding. The apt is currently at 73F.

The good news is by putting in a "real" pump, you'll increase system flow and might see a slight dip in temps, until you put in the GTS :)

I didn't think about the dual rad in the front...I've only got two open 5.25 slots right now though...I'd have to move two of my HDD's to the rear cage and I'd have to take my extra 3-slot hdd cage out of the front...but yeah, with the 250mm fan on the side, the case temps are already nice and low. That's right, the side fan is 25Cm...it's freaking HUGE. Full size Armor thank you very much. :)
 
I saw that case at fry's a couple weeks ago. The fan is nasty big. If you put a dual in the front you'd be pulling cool air over the rad, giving your optimal cooling performance for the cpu and video card. My rad takes up 7 5.25 bays, so its about the only place to put the dual rad and keep it internal for this type of case. I was really close to buying an armor for my setup, but I was cheap and bought the aerocool :)

No... you'd love a Fuzion so much.. you'd do unspeakable things with it.

No really, the thermaltake somewhat half kinda maze sorta channel CPU block is garbage compared to an Apogee, Fuzion, TDX, or a Storm. If you pick up a super powerful pump like a D5, pick up a waterblock that can take advantage of the increased power.
