I need help on picking the perfect water cooling kit for my set up

Thermal Take Xaser II Tower Plenty of room
AMD XP 2400+ Running Currently 40C
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Kingston DDR400 512MB

And I want better temperatures and looking for the perfect watercooling kit that is easy to install for noobies like me and works like a charm, I have plenty of room in my case just dont recommend me a messy kit.. It HAS to be under at least $150 :eek: thats all i am asking :)

Or give me parts to order to make my own kit i would like possibly a resevoir that goes under the hddcages or in the 5.25 bay :eek:

lol...it's almost midnight, it's just you here! I wouldn't get a wc'ing kit, unless you get one from Dtek or Danger Den. Just use a T-line instead of a reservoir. As for a typical custom setup:

Pump: Danner Mag 3 ~$40
CPU block: Dtek White Water ~$50
Heatercore: '86 Chevette ~$30
Tubing: 6 ft. Clearflex ~$14
Clamps, Barbs, Y and T adapter: ~$16

I was about half way done with my recommendation when I looked and saw DaveX's post. Basically my message says the same thing. The kits in your price range are not worth your money. It would be difficult for those radiators to handle all the heat you'd throw at them.

Put down a vote for DaveX's buy list :)

How much would a Danger Den or a Dtek water cooling kit cost?

And where would i find most of these items from anyways?

Are there any sites with guides to make them yourself?

Dtek's site is http://www.dtekcustoms.com
Though I can't get their page to come up right now (prob just my connection)

DangerDen's site is http://www.dangerden.com

If you want to read up on water cooling and various water cooling products, this looks like a good page (overclockers.com link)

And remembers, google is your friend :)

Read around a bit and get more comfortable with the technology and you'll be building your system in no time.

I was looking at the H20-8501 as well when I wanted to watercool. Main reason was space constraints in my Coolermaster ATC-201 case. After checking MANY forums, I went custom. I did pay a little more than your basic kit, but alot of it was 2nd day air shipping from three different online retailers because some places were sold out of certain items. I went with this:

Swiftech MCP-600 pump
Swiftech MCW-5002 CPU block
Danger Den Maze-4 GPU block
Black Ice Micro II rad (alot better than the tiny rad with the Swifty kit)
Clear res from Danger Den
10 feet Tygon 1/2 ID tubing
2 80mm Panaflo H1a fans
Metal hose clamps from Home Depot

Here's the link on the Black Ice Micro II rad: LINK

The rad accepts 2 80 mm fans. This worked out well for me because I've got 2 80mm intakes on the case. I bolted two Panaflo H1a fans to the back of the rad, so I've got a push-pull setup. If I break my lazy streak I'll eventually construct a shroud for the fans bolted to the rad to gain an extra 2-3c on my temps.
Every fan in my comp is connected to a Vantec Nexus fan controller so I can control the noise. System is pretty quiet too. Here's a pic:

Good luck with your H20 adventure!

Okay heres what i basically picked out for my first water cooling set up please add or edit things you think that would keep this a better setup

I do have a certain price range but can work around it

Danger Den 1/2" Maze Radeon 9000/9700 Block $44.99
or
DangerDen MAZE4 GPU - 1/2" ID nVidia/ATI Water Block $48.99
DangerDen Black Ice Pro 120mm Radiator (Black) $49.00
Danger Den 1/2" Maze 4 AMD Block $39.00

tubings,liquids,fittings etc

Am i missing anything? I know im missing the resevior because i cant find a red uv/clear on that fits in the 5.25 bay and i dont know which pump is the best and also compact

please help me out

ADD in ANYTHING that would make it more efficient or basically things im missing :)

You don't really need the graphics block. With what you are running right now, watercooling wouldnt make any difference, and limit the processor cooling. If you are looking to upgrage to a nV series or a radeon soon, then get the Maze4 GPU block.

I would get the Hydor L30 pump to go with that system. Its compact and it works well, besides not costing too much. A lot of people say get a Danner Mag3 from petsmart/many aquarium stores. For simplicity, I would stay with the L30 from dangerden because it keeps all of your order/system together, and if you have problems with it, Dangerden will be happy to work with you.

As far as the res goes, you dont really need one. Just get a T-line fitting from dangerden. I personally like my bayres, but it isnt reactive to UV. Im sure you can coat it with something though....

Instead of the Black Ice Pro, get the Dtek JR-120 core. It's bigger but it's also $15 cheaper and performs better. As you probably know: Dtek Pro Core > Dtek JR-120 > BIX > BIP. If you get the JR-120 then just get a Danger Den RBX with the money you save. It'll perform a lot better than a Maze4, just make sure you get a Y-adapter. Hydor L30 is a good choice, Swiftech MCP600 or Eheim 1250 is good too, even though they're more expensive.

Yeah i think bigger wouldnt matter any more i just ordered a full tower server case which is way BIGGER then this thermal take and i can get better water cooling equipment can someone like make a list of things i should get right now im totally busy but if not ill do it sometime tonight and estimate prices :)

DangerDen MAZE4 GPU - 1/2" ID nVidia/ATI Water Block $48.99[ Ordering at a later time]

Typhoon-Quad DUAL Reservoir $33.99
JR-120 Hi Performance Radiator $34.99
Danger Den 1/2" Maze 4 AMD Block $39.00
ClearFlex High Grade Tubing 1/2" $2.95 a foot
120mm Red LED Fan $10.99
Hydor L20 185GPH Pump $35.00
FrozenCPU Red UV Reactive Water Dye - 1 oz. Bottle $9.99
1/2" UV Reactive Leakproof Y Fitting $2.75 [ How much of these i need]

I estimated 178.99 Excluding shipping.. Good enough ?

Do i need any other fittings? Please comment.

Confused on resevior should i get a dual or a single that easily fit in the 5.25 bay? Which is better for cooling.

Ditch the res, just make a T-line. For that purpose, get a T-fitting from like Dtekcustoms.com (frozencpu is way overpriced :) ). You might like a 120mm Red LED fan but in my experience 120mm LED fans are pretty noisy. A 120mm Panaflo or Evercool Aluminum fan would do better IMHO. You don't need UV dye either, just use like red highlighter fluid. You don't need a Y-fitting since the Maze 4 blocks only have one inlet and outlet.

Get the single bay reservoir if you really want one. The dual bay one is just big and useless.

I agree with DaveX, get a real 120mm fan. I love my Evercool AL fan. Looks spiffy too:D

Make sure you get enough tubing. I would recommend around 7ft. if this is your first time working with water. Gives you wiggle room if you have to do it again:rolleyes:

I really would suggest the L30 over the L20. Much better pump in the L30 for little price difference.

You dont need the Y. Ditch it.

Hoseclamps? You need hoseclamps. Leaks = Bad. Get 10.

You also need some kind of additive such as Water wetter. Improves cooling, and reduces chances of bacterial growth and corrosion in your system.

Thats about it :D

Good luck and happy cooling

Yeah i forgot to add the additive to the list i already have it in my favorites right now im not worried about load noise or anything because im basically used to the load noise.. So i ditch the Y and get a T or what? And hose clamps?

* Dtek WhiteWater - $49.99 (DangerDen RBX doesnt touch the pads which REALLY scares me, other than that theyre about the same) from detekcustoms.com
* Supreme Mag-Drive 3 350 GPH - $39.95 from marinedepot.com
* Heatercore from 77 Bonneville, whichever size fits (all are for dual fans, but there are different sizes available) - ~$20 from any auto store
* 10 feet 1/2" ID 1/8" wall PVC tubing (5233K68) - .57 x 10 = $5.70 from mcmaster.com
* 10 hose clamps, 5/16" width, 7/16"- 25/32" - $3.85 for 10
* T-line - $0.99 at Dtekcustoms.com
* Water Wetter - $3.50 at Dtekcustoms.com
* 2x Evercool fans - $11.99 x 2 = $23.98 at Dtekcustoms.com

Total: $147.96 + ~$12 shipping = $159.96

Thanks for the head-up. Doesn't really matter though since Mikesta is getting a DD Maze 4 CPU block.

We're just worried that the LED fan sucks ass. Evercool is much better CFM and noise wise.

You dont need a Y unless you get a dual outlet CPU block. You dont need a T unless you going with a Tline to fill and bleed your system. Since youre getting a res, you dont need a T.

Hose clamps? Yes, hoseclamps. Little plastic or metal clamps from home depot/dangerden/any plumbing store to prevent leaks.

You need 10 from my count.

[edit] for idiocy (pointed out by DaveX:D )

Alright thats nice ill read over it and if i got any questions i'll reply here :)

also is it good if i attach the radiator to the top of my case and get a 120mm hole saw and cut it out so the fans will be attached the the top?

That'll work. Although it's best to have the coolest air blowing on the rad, I guess it's ok to have it exhausting out of your case.

Alright if i detect any leaks that i can't fix should i get a plumber to help me out?

the only leaks should be from tube connections, and it should be REALLY easy to find and fix those, you just re attach the tube and reclamp it...
