i want to get water cooling, and lets say that YOU had to pick from one of these kits. which one would you get? what is the best?
Please keep in mind that i want to overclock my Intel Q9550 2.83ghz quad core to 4ghz or around that area.

OR, should i not choose a kit and get the parts seperatly? if this is the way to go can you please suggest to me all the necessary parts that i would need, (i only want to watercool my cpu right now). i want a very good watercooling system but dont want to spend too much money. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! game on...
 
Thermaltake watercooling is trash.

Why do you want to watercool? Looks? Quiet? Performance?

Do you have a quality HSF (heatsink and fan) already, or are you just using a stock HSF? Will you be overclocking?

What is your budget? If it's under ~$150, forget about it.
 
Conveniently, I didn't even have to click the links to dismiss all three of those options due to the fact they say Thermaltake in the URL. Read some stickies, do some research and visit forums like XS for more advanced stuff.
 
Have a look at my review mate, I did some quick tests with the QX9650 and the I7 so you have an idea from where the WC starts to shine...

Swiftech Ultima kit review

At 4ghz I got a difference of around 7°C between the Swiftech kit and a True cooler (I must say that this QX9560 was a real cool running, low voltage CPU), FSB was also tested at 450FSB and the difference got bigger to around 9°C at 4050mhz for the 45nm Yorkfield (yet I didn't have more time with this CPU to run the 12V tests as I had to return it, so the test results were not added to the review)

With I7 at 4Ghz the TRUE gave in to the high end WC kit... up to 13°c difference was observed

Plz stay away fom the thermalrightkits as you will upgrade them for sure with other parts, making the total cost way more then buying directly a high end kit...
 
It's always better to buy parts separately. Because that way, you save some money and you get the sense of satisfaction. Plus, it really is very easy to put together a water cooling setup. Really!

That being said, this is the most cost efficient setup you can get now.

  1. GTZ CPU block (or the new phobar???)
  2. MCP355 + XSPC top
  3. swiftech Micro res 2 or a t-line
  4. Coloured tubes (if you want colour. Primochill, XSPC and Feser sells them) or the clear ones (people recommend tygon 3606 as it's very flexible)
  5. MCR320. A TFC or Thermochill is double the price but performs similar to the MCR. A test was conducted by martin but his site has closed down since 26th december :(
Sidewindercomputers or jab-tech shop offer great customer service and excellent prices. I strongly recommend you to go to them.
 
Im loving the Swiftech Ultima kit on my E8600 @4.3Ghz @1.35v and the waterblock for the videocard work even better drop temps from 62c to 42c a most have.

It's the best pre-built kit you can buy at the moment.

Very good advice if you are willing to buy individual parts. If you go this route, make sure you get tubing, barbs, and clamps that all work together. I'd recommend 1/2" ID barbs and either 1/2" or 7/16" tubing. Either sizes of tubing will work with the 1/2" ID barbs and have nearly identical performance. The two minor advantages of 7/16" tubing are it has little more flexibility in the tubing runs and a little tighter seal on the barbs (making leaks less likely). In fact, a number of people use zip ties as their clamps on the hose and barbs when using 7/16" tubing.
 
I don't use any clamps at all with my 7/16" ID Masterkleer over 1/2" OD barbs. Never had a leak, but my setup is all properly mounted and internal.

3/8" tubing.....cheap-ass 1.00 a foot clear tubing.
Yate-Loon medium speed fans.
Swiftech Hyrdx additive for distilled water.

PPcs are good in the fact that they have a wide selection of stuff but they are the most expensive. Another good place to order is jab-tech.com and sidewindercomputers.com
 
I have had good luck with frozencpu.com Not the best prices but the selection is good and they are quick to ship.
 
swiftech ultima kid looks like a winner. I wouldn't go clampless even if you use 7/16 tubing on 1/2"
barbs though. Why not just add some extra security and use worm clamps on that...what...
$1000 and up system?

It's kind of like locking your front door. No one is probably going to invade your home...but if they try..
at least it's locked.

If all your cooling is the cpu then a dual rad should do the trick. The better the rad, the
quieter the fans.

I use Frozencpu if I need something fast because I'm in New York, too.

Performance isn't that much more than everybody else, and they generally ship out to you same day, it's their shipping I find pricey, I guess it's because they're in Florida.
