Well, I finally decided to get a Core 2 after years of using my trusty Northwood.

Here's the stuff
E6300, week 23 from fry's
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 from fry's
Patriot PC2 800 4-4-4-12 from fry's

Watercooling stuff from S478 days.
Dangerden TDX S478

I'm getting idle temperatures of about 36C. With Orthos, the load temperatures sometimes goes to 75C on a light overclock to 2.1Ghz. While I know the waterblock wasn't designed for S775, but I thought I had made a decent adaptor so that it could fit. Are S775 water blocks that much different?
 
Same block, different mounting points built into the top - that's the ONLY difference. If load temp is jumping up that high you don't have enough downforce or you have uneven downforce.
 
yea he's right , do a remount

my ds3/e6300 with a storm/d5/mcr220 gets about 22-25c idle and 35-38ish orthos load
never goes above 40c
 
Oops, problem solved. I looked at the AS contact patch and only half of it was touching. Looks like when I threaded one of the holes of the TDX onto the bolts, it got caught at a slight angle. Everything is cherry now :cool: , except for the motherboard chirping sound.
