Water Cooling Advice

I was wondering which way to go with water cooling. Should i go with some sort of kit or is it better to get parts and make your own kit. Also im just looking to cool my cpu and maybe my 8800 gts. But in the future i do plan on adding another 8800 and cooling them both with the system i would go with. I would appreciate any help you guys can give me. thanks
 
From what I've been learning here and elsewhere, I'm pretty sure you're going to find that most people will suggest you build your own if you are comfortable with that option, or get someone to build one for you. (Although that might be the best option seeing as it would be best for you to know what action to take if something were to go wrong...)

If you were just cooling your CPU (depending on your CPU) you'd be able to get away with a water cooling kit like the Corsair Nautilus 500. When you start adding vid cards into the loop you start increasing the price of the kits needed, and you end up getting better performance per buck to go the self-built route.

If I were to hazard a suggestion, it would be to setup a loop for your CPU with a dual rad (I don't know your CPU and that could affect what type, and then at least another dual rad loop for your vid cards. Trying to get all three of those onto one loop just won't give you the results you'd want. Especially not if you're planning on doing any over-clocking at all.

I'm currently cooling a QX6700 with a Nautilus 500, and it isn't enough cooling for me by far (because that CPU just plain runs hot). I have it at stock speeds and can't attain a decent over-clock without sending my temps into realms I'm not comfortable with.
 
It's better to build your own of course, I made the mistake of buying a kit, but most of the parts were decent :eek:

if you must get a kit, I'd suggest get a "custom" one from Petra ->

thanks for the help guys. my cpu that i am getting is the e6420 and i plan on OC it but not to the extreme. And from what i am hearing i will build my own with a 2 rad for the cpu then another 2 rad for the gpu?
 
It depends a lot on your budget too.

You could get by with one single loop, but 2 loops would lead to better performance.
 
thanks, i dont know if money will be a big issue because i dont plan on water cooling the gpu until i get them set up in sli (unless it would be efficient to set up the one gpu on water). so i prob would have one loop for a while. Also how would i set it up with case, cause i would have the one 2 rad on the back of the case and what would i do with the other 2 rads later on?
