water cooled p4 3.0 needs help

hey guys,

Got a question for the gurus here..

So I am using a Koolance water cooling system, and I have a p4 3.0 chip. Using an abit ig-7 max II motherboard, and 512mb of PC4200 OCZ memory, and an ATI radeon 9800 XT vid card.

I can get up to 250 FSB stable, but when I try to go past that, the computer won't boot. Have I reached a wall? I'm running the memory at 2.8v, and the CPU at around 1.65v.

My CPU shows 48 degrees C in BIOS, at 3.9 ghz.

thanks guys.

whoah whoah whoah... hold on a sec here, you are at 3.9ghz stable with a koolance EXOS??????? Sorry, but i call bs without pics. How do you know it's stable?

I'm tempted to call BS, but with the retail cooler I've heard of 3.6 GHz w/ the 3.0C, I am pulling half of a BS card....

I as well pull the BS card on this one...

There aint no way.... Prove me wrong n00bie cheeze

i smacked the 240fsb wall :(

p4p800 delux, xms 3200LL,

koolance *built into the case*

its 100% stable at 3.6

that's good enough, not bad, I believe you anyway... this other 250 Mhz FSB guy is kindy sketchy

What does that mean? Two instances of prime95 assigned to each logical CPU, run without error for more than 12 hours?

let me make it more accurate then . 99.9% , that being prime95 is the .01% i just don't care,

if i can play at a lan for 17hrs straight , gaming, leeching, server duties, its more than enough for me

Yeah I agree, my 100% stability test is not prime 95, its "can I play games all night with no problems." If it does that, its stable enough for me.

You're saying 4 instances of Prime95 running on a P4 with HT? And here I thought two instances for 12 hours was enough.

Hold on again. My 3.2c will do 4ghz on air with a Zalman, Granted it's a little warm but the chip will do it @ 1.6v. The Vapo give me more but not even worth the extra $$ for the electric for 200 xtra mhz.

I went through a lot of chips to find a wonder chip. Maybe only 1 percent of them will get this high but it isnt unbelievable. I have a 3.0c here brand new i just got today going in a customers rig.

It might only do 3.4ghz it might do 4ghz. It's less than a month old according to the pack date. And i got it straight from Intel on the IPD program.

He didnt post here to say here's my amazing OC. he's asking for help.

I'll help him on the basis on what's holding him back. This is his first post so welcome him first. And ask for some pics.

Dont call BS unless he's unwilling to post pics, he hasnt even responded yet to the first BS.

Sorry to be a ass. Im a mod @ xtremesystems in the Overclocking forums. This would not go over in mine, simply for the fact he didnt respont yet.

All that should of been said is Please post some pics please. If he cannot, then i will be the first to say BS!!!!!

Everyone gets my respect till they lose it due to BS!!! Give him a chance to respond first.

Or just call me a Dick!!! doesnt matter. But i hope he does prove you wrong, if not he'll have to change his name. Nothing like bullShtting your first post!!!!

Im @ 3.6 with a Prime95 24 hour stress benchmark on my back. Not only that, its a 6 to 8 hours gaming rig with no glitches at all. I think the 3.0C hits the wall @ 240~250. Beyond that I would see a CPU-Z pic but still will be hesitant in how stable the system is.
The PIC does not do anything for me. My CPU goes all the way to 252 under W2K and is able to pull half of the 3DMark Benchies and craps out. Under XP will only go to 240 and be STABLE as a fookin rock.

Ok on testing this 3.0 i just got today. Im @ 3.75ghz on a factory intel HS 1.57volts. Boots no problem @ 250fsb to windows and f@h running stable.

if you needing screenies let me know. Little extra work.

So i got lucky with a good chip so far. Im going to try it in my Vapo in a little while. So i will predict @ least 4.1ghz.

It's all luck of the chip. I had a 3.0 last month that wouldnt do over 3.3 on air, and 3.5ghz in my vapo with a lot of volts.

Our friend with the koolance got a real good chip, that's all.

The 3.0 only has to hold me over till Prescott, so it's up for sale then.

I might try it with a Zalman and 1.7v later.

Testing my 2.8c celeron i got now also. maxxed out @ 3712mhz.

Nothing like a 28x multiplier and a 100fsb cpu for some slow mem scores!!! even @ 3:4 in my IC7!!!!
