spyware/adware

check what process is using up cpu at the time of the skip.

defrag

try a different player and check if it occurs doing high quality 3d game playing.

already checked spyware

only 2 processes use the cpu at the same time and they never use more than 4-6%

there is always 75%+ sitting in system idle

i'm defraging now and downloading the lateist divx player i'll let you know

well i'm useing the lateist divx player and all is well i guess it was just windows media player

windows media player 9 can be a resource whore with new avi codecs. it also like to try to access the net every thirty seconds or so for some stupid reason.

you might have a slower machine possibly. id recommend http://www.bsplayer.com/ for an awesome minimalist very functional and usable avi player. it is better than wmp9 or divx. very tight fast efficient coding. skins kinda suck though.

thanks man but i was looking around for a possiable cause when i decided to go to system under control panel then click the performance tab. i found the problem right away. the only drive that had any page file was my OS drive. so i quickley fixed that and now everything is super. even windows media player 9 is great no skips. stupid windows xp not setting a page file for those disks  oh live and learn :D

I use ZoomPlayer 3.0 to play my media files and they play great on my P3 450.

it happens to me when i try to watch DVDs but i m guessing it MIGHT be the ram but i m not sure...still trying to figure it out though so if anyone knows, please say sumthing
