Is it possible to watch tv on my computer throgh my x850XT. I am going away to college next year and if I can just watch tv throgh a coax cable on my pc it would be great.

Can and how do yuo do this?
 
Dont buy a cheap ass TV tuner card, I got the cheapest one and the picture looks like piss.
 
It says in the manual that you can use the cables wqith my card to watch tv. with the vivo

Get a vcr and hook it up to your card since it has no intergrated tv tuner. You'll have a remote control too.

yes, but you will need an external tuner, and youll need to run an s-video cable (or composite, with a converter) into the X850. you will not be able to "surf" with your computer, youll basically just be using it as a television and youll have to use a VCR or similar as the tuner.
 
and the AIW cards have a good tuner where I could just hook up a coax cable and I could watch tv.

not really. they have a tuner, but i cant vouch for their quality other htan the fact that htey are software decoding cards which generally suck. my tv wonder pro looks like absolute ass.

on hte contrary, i have a mobility radeon 9000 with the theater200 chip, which is a hardware decoder and the video quality is much, much better. the card is a qualification sample, so you cant buy it anywhere. the mainstream AIW cards dont have this, and the best bet for you would be a hauppage TV tuner or the ATI TV wonder Elite, which has the theater550 chip.
 
with my ati x600 pro all in wonder picture looks like this too i dunno why

software decoding. thats why. you need something with a hardware decoder to get good quality.
 
What is that mean x600 can't get good quality in TV ?

if you are using the card as a tuner, no. it will never have good quality taking the signal from the coaxial cable. if you use an external TV Tuner (like a VCR) and run compoisate or s-video into the card it will be regular TV quality.
 
man this isn't right if they make some thing they should make it right this is some low quality shit

run the coaxial cable into the VCR. use your VCR's composite outputs (the yellow plug) and plug that into the xt with a s-video-> composite adaptor. use ATI's TV (inside the MMC package) to view the image.
 
I got it all connected but when i went to click on TV it didnt open. ATI software for MMc is horrible.

Il pass and just bring a Tv to school.
 
is there any other software that i can use for the TV i don't like that ATI software damn it's slow

hrumm i had a 32m pci 128 rage AIW, picture looked rather nice, as good as reg tv would, my dad has a 9600 AIW, pic looks the same (tho more vibrent cause he has lcd as mine is crt)

Install the WDM_SP drivers and enjoy flipping through 2-3 channels a second without that annoying audio lag.

I use MMC 9.6.01, catalyst 5.6, WDM_SP on my aiw x800xt. It's awesome now. I like my card even more. I had to repair the installation of the MMC to fix the non working atisched.

Guide to change the NSP drivers http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=918853&highlight=WDM. Don't forget to plug in the blue cable from the A/V dongle in your soundcard.
