Hey guys:

I had been considering a UHD430 (wasabi mango) which there have been a few posts on.

Today all of the UHD430's are gone from eBay to be replaced with the Zen U430.

Anyone able to read Korean and see how they differ? I can't post links since I don't have 3 posts yet but can easily google the main page..

And on an unrelated note, poll:
43 or 49" for a new monitor; currently coming from 1080 27" ASUS panel. Worried 49" is too big.

Thanks!

While this is the first I have seen of the U430, I got a Zen U400 about two weeks ago (there's a thread below). The Zen series is basically more TV than monitor (my U400 has a TV tuner, so I would imagine this does too), but is perfectly useable as a monitor. Looking at the specs of the U430 on ebay, it has four HDMI 2.0 ports and lacks the Displayport of the UHD series. Note that if you don't have a video card that supports HDMI 2.0, you would be limited to 30hz at 4k resolutions.

The U430 is an IPS panel, while the U400 is a VA panel. If you would be ok with a VA panel and something 3 inches smaller, you might want to consider the U400 too, as it's about $100 cheaper on ebay at the moment.

I personally was going to go with the 49" because I wanted bigger pixels. But I really wanted a 46", but they don't make that size.

I was considering the 43" because that is about the same DPI as a 27" 1440P, which I have been using for a few years.

I'm the same boat! I'm gonna go for the 43 and after reading here ti's a IPS Panel I'm sold. I hate VN/TN because they don't offer the Color reproduction that IPS does. The price under 500 is pretty good too. I'm gonna have to go to BEst Buy and make a final choice. I've been so torn between a 120hz/144hz monitor or 60hz beautiful crip screen. Sony makes nice 120hz panels but out of my prince range. The x830c is sorta in my price range, but not really. I just want something good for Anime and Unreal.. I know I can't afford a 120hz 35 inch + panel :( so I'm shooting for beautiful picture instead and let me tell you 49 inch is TOO big for pc gaming/using up close. 40/43 is perfect

Hi, new member, just received my Zen 43 IPS by way of Ebay. Took a bit to get to English menus. Picture is awesome so far, though text seems best at 100% (default was 125). I have not run cleartype yet. I am running it off of a Dell Precision M5510 laptop with a Nvidia Quadro M1000 card via HDMI. The cable is an Amazon Basics 2.0 cable. I can't seem to get it to run at 60HZ though, only 30. Zen is set to PC as input. Any ideas? New cable? Perhaps it is defaulting to the Intel Graphics?

Found out that the Dell is only HDMI 1.4, Thunderbolt to HDMI is on order from Plugable (rated 4k/60hz), as is 100x200 VESA mount.

To get to English menus on this unit, select upper white button between volume and channel, then right arrow until icon at top of screen has windows icon, top menu item is language, use down arrow to get to it, then middle button to select, only two choices, Korean or English.

I'm also considering the u430 IPS. A few questions for anyone that could answer them:
1.) I think the panel is semi glossy. Is it terribly reflective?
2.) Are the dead pixels noticeable in everyday use? I wish there was a pixel perfect version out.
3.) How far back do you sit from a 40-43 inch monitor? I have a 28 inch hanns-g I've been using for years.

Just because it's not a 'pixel perfect' auction doesn't mean it will have dead pixels. 'pixel perfect' simply means that they have powered the display on and checked it for dead pixels before shipping. Honestly I don't even think they do that - I think it's just an excuse to charge slightly more.

I always sit around 2 to 2.5 feet away from mine just like you would a normal monitor and adjust text size to suit my comfort level.

Thanks for the response.

Can anyone comment on input lag? Will the average(not hardcore) gamer notice any delay while playing? The monitor lists a 5 second response time but I haven't seen any in depth reviews about input lag.

That's 5ms, and that's pixel response time which has nothing to do with input lag.

As for input lag, historically on the Wasabi Mango units it's pretty low. When setup correctly I believe it's around 16ms (1 frame @ 60hz) which might not compete with some of the super awesome 144hz gaming monitors, but for a large format display it's pretty fantastic.

I can't speak for the Zen U430 personally, but the input lag on the Zen U400 was extremely low and I'd expect the same for the other displays in the Zen series since they're all using the same logic boards internally.

What the difference between the i20 and the standard u430?

The i20 adds the option to do fake 120hz via motion interpolation, probably via backlight strobing. It's a feature that 98% of us would immediately disable.

I just got one of these from Korea. No dp. Whites isn't very uniform, not that obvious in normal usage though.

Only have a GTX970, so obviously 4k gaming isn't gonna run well hehe. Comes with a TV remote with korean words, but all you need to know which is the power, menu and directional buttons.

Text is pretty sharp, doesn't feel like a TV. I use it around 60cm from face.

Any questions feel free to ask. Got it around $380 Singapore dollars, which is around $280 USD, which is a damn good bargain imho. And no, I'm not a retailer, so I can't help you to buy it. :D

Hello, a few questions:
1. This is a BGR panel, do cleartype works well in Win10?
2. Maybe you have other RGB monitors, can you check that in multi monitors setup zen u430 works well with other RGB panels at same time, so you can set the cleartype settings PER screen? (Very important)
3. Any info about input lag? Can you chek it here: :: Online Monitor test - Your free online TV and monitor test tool - By vanity.dk and flatpanels.dk and How is gaming in 1080p, do you spot any bad things?
4. Is there Freesync?Maybe it has freesync in menu?
5. How glossy is the screen when you in a dark room, in the night can you see yourself?
6. Do zen u430 have metal frame and bezel but plastic back panel? And generally how is the build quality?
7. How good is it packed, can it survive a long shipping?
Thank you for your answers!

1. Well, it works, but I personally find the text is best with it off to my eyes. Scaling at 125%, putting it at 100% makes it too small.
2. This is more of a W10 question. Yes, W10 will allow you to setup Cleartype for individual displays.
3. Hmm...tried the input lag test with my other remaining plugged in LG non-gaming monitor (other two Dell and Samsung monitors are down until I get some wall mounts up), took a shot - they show the same time. So does that show any input lag or lack thereof? I'm not sure.
Tried Rise of TR in 1080p. It's not fullscreen (game is in fullscreen exclusive mode), the 1080p image appears in the middle of the screen with black borders around.
Ah....this is because the display is in Point to point mode (non scaling I guess?) Switching it to 16:9 mode makes it full screen with 1080p. Seems to have a slight ghosting effect when panning around, even with motion blur off. However tried Doom 2016, panning around doesn't have that effect. Again, I'm no hardcore gamer, and I have no experience with expensive G-sync or Freesync displays so take it with a pinch of salt.
4. Nope. Nothing, nada.
5. It's not really a full glossy screen. If you have light sources behind you, yes you will see a blurred reflection. No, you won't see your own reflection at night.
6. Plastic everywhere. No to the metal frame. It seems to be built sturdy enough. No creaks or bending when I moved it around manually. For the price I paid I have no complaints. I do feel the legs/stand feels pretty cheap - they do the job but they're just two plastic V shaped stuff that you screw onto the bottom. I'm also not sure if the same leg screws are the vesa screws that you use to wallmount via the 100x200 holes, but with the display setup already I have no interest in finding out.
7. It's packed like a conventional TV/monitor. Corrugated cardboard box with styrofoam inserts suspending it. Not sure what you mean by a long shipping, but I suspect it should do fine as it's basically packed like every TV out there.

Sorry if I'm unclear in any area. Do let me know if you have other queries.

Hi, new to the forum here. I got the UHD430 for home productivity (nearly $800) and got great results through display port 1.2. I probably got one of the last units available. Now I just received a U430 for the office ($410 on ebay) and cannot seem to get it to work at 60hz through HDMI 2.0. Any suggestions? I've gone through all the settings. If anyone has tips on picture settings too that'd be great because it looks like crap right now no matter what setting I use. Not sure if that's because I'm in 30hz or not...

Also I'd to comment that the screen does seem to be on the glossy side. There is natural (but not direct) light where the monitor is and I can see the reflection of the wall behind me pretty clearly against dark images.

[EDIT] Looks like my NVIDIA Quadro M500M WILL support DP 1.2 but NOT HDMI 2.0 so I ordered a converter. Hopefully that solves the issue.

Hey all, just wanna give my feedback. Ordered 3 Zen U430s, 1 had the red light indicator on but didn't work whatsoever, and the other had terrible horizontal line streaks across the display at 4k 60Hz. Haven't bothered to test the last one.

not sure if i can post links here but for what it's worth, the 2 videos of the 2 faulty monitors:

been trying to get goniglobal to exchange for new ones. just beware before you purchase.
