ok im looking for something in the $600 dollar range. maybe less how about 400-600

i have a Canon camera, that i paid like $1000 dollars for back in... 1980 maybe a little earlier but i need a digital camera so i can take snap shots of the cars im working on and post them on the internet asap, would be extremely helpful :) Any info would also be helpful.

ive been reading some threads but alot of you guys are talking like $1000 dollars for one but i just want to be taking a good photo i dont want to be photographer thats what my old Canon was for :)

thanks,

If you're just gonna be using it for posting pics of cars on the internet get a canon A60, A70, A75, or A80.

All will be more than you need (they take damn fine pictures in the hands of a good photographer) and cost less than 400 bucks. Under 200 for the A70-A60

um yeah... im not happy with my s400 for it's tendencey to blow highs every time, but it does do well with cars:

and that's just a $350 camera. so I'm sure anything you get around $400 will do fine.

hmm yup those are nice,
anyone with an A-70 or A-75 wanna show a few pics ? :)

thanks for your time guys :)

also, is if i wanted to have the film devoped what do i do? i give them the memory card and they swipe it, or do they keep it? or what?

i would guess it would be cheaper to have the digital camera developed.. no film... so...

in case i want a few hard copies of cars im buildin up.

just give them the card, and they return it to you with the photos.

i burn to cd though, as the cd is .50$ and the card is 200$ ;)

San Disk has a new line of memory cards out called Shoot and Store. They are inexpensive disk, that you can drop off at your local digital lab, and not worry that the card will get lost. They don't hold much but for the occational snap shooter they are perfect.

You can also get a bigger, faster card and learn to download them to your hard drive, than upload them to a site that prints and ships. Its all becoming easier and easier.

Cheers,

interesting stuff, hmmm still wondering about which camera to get, the A-70 sounds good, but what the hell does the A-75 have over the A-70? or the A-80 over the A-75 .... sorta confusing to me :/

The A80 is 4.0 MP instead of 3.2MP (A70 and A75). THe A60 is just 2.0MP.

Also, the A80 has a flip out LCD screen. The 7x's is built into the back and can't be swiveled.

The A75 keeps the A70 body but adds some feature from the A80 like histogram and custom white balance memory and more shooting modes.

also would the canon line of digital camera's be the best choice?

is there something else out there that would beat the hell out of canon's products for around the same pricE?

seeing quality of pictures from these camera's i dont even think i would need to spend over 400 now, from looking at the canon's line. i found a a-80 for 249.99 ok deal?

Great deal for a80 for 250. (Thats the price of A75 in stores) Be VERY careful when ordering from unknown sites though. Do your research at www.reselleratings.com

I got a few pics taken with A75. I post them after this post.

I personaly use online developers. My favorite is shutterfly http://www.shutterfly.com/. It is cheaper and give you better quality than your local walmart (well walmart is cheaper but its not high gloss). It comes to your door too, and dont worry about bending or folding, they package it VERY well.

nothing really beats the hell out of anything else in the mid range point and shoot world... but you should know that most of the users on this forum are heavily biased toward canon for what appears to be no reason...there are plenty of other options from Sony, Nikon, Minolta, etc.

per the canon line question. my nikon is three years old and works great. my canon is 10 months old and has gone back twice. those are my experiences, your experiences may be different.

looks like i will just pop for the A80, seems like a damn good camera,

even though the pictures posted by the a75 guy looked pretty damn good to, i truthfully couldnt tell the difference, i must be blind :)

but ill jump on the A-80 since its got a swivel LCD and stuff, few more options, hopefully it kicks ass, circuit city should have it fairly cheap, i got a 50 dollar gift card for there ill just pop for the damn camera -50 dollars from the gift card, hopefully circuit city wont rip me off... that bad

hmm just read about how the new A-85 will be made to replace the A-70... it seems like it would be the same camera with possibly more advanced stuff.... hmmm should i wait? to buy

OOOH, also, is the A-80 compatable with the sandisk 256 mb compact flash card?

i thought i read that they werent or something....and would a 256 mb flash card be good for what? 200 pictures? less? depends?

Yes, they are compatable with all Type 1 CF Cards

I have a Sandisk Ultra 256M CF card, at max res i can hold about 144 pics, one below that I can get about 270 or so pics on it.
The swivel screen is extremely handy, especially for nature shots and macro's, or big parties like Mardi Gras :D

thanks guys,

i just gone done buying a canon A-80, its really nice, i dont think ill ever go back to FILM!! FILM SUCKS :)

i just got done taking over 250 pictures in about 2 hours... was nice never having to change my memory card out (bought a 256mb sandisk)

with that card i love taking pictures... ive taken like 60 pictures of each car in my driveway.. ok more like 30 :) but most of the cars in my driveway are muscle cars so... it rocks.

And the beauty of digital is you look that those 30 pics and then scrap 29 of them.

The worst part of digital is uploading those 250 and saying "I'll check them out later". I must have 2 or 3 gig of folders named "camera dump" that I never went back and looked at

is there a special option on this camera for extreme closeups of things, such as flowers and such?

i cant seem to get a good focus unless im 8 inches away :)
