Warranty Voiding?

I'm running all my new games just great, but I'm wondering for future reference... does overclocking of any degree void the manufacturer's warranty (at least ATI's)?

I have an ATI-built x850XT btw.

Changing your card in anyway so that it differs from the manufacturer specs including design or operation voids the warranty.

Yes, simply put, overclocking does void the warrantly.

I think its iffy cause alot of cards I've got from ATI have had problems from heat and such that seemed like they was OCed (not a flame to ATI, I actually use ATI exclusively in my gaming rigs)

Yes, there's a chip on the card that sends any core and memory clock changes to ATi, this is how they find out if you've OC'd a card or not.

Okay not really.

The truth is they really cant tell. But if you OC you do void the warranty and no matter what you say, if the card breaks and you've OC'd it before its your fault and you must take responsiblity for your actions.

So many people try to play it off. "Like it really matters that I OC'd it, would have broke down anyway". These people simply cant live with their own actions. If you OC, you must know that you ran the risk and it can come back to bite you.
