They would do this when I'm trying to sell my 9600GT with a Zalman vf-900.
Good deal; too bad I'm so far away from CC.

I picked one up in Tucson, Az. They couldn't even find it in thier computer, Had to go to the Hardforums right in CC and "oh, there is one in town". GO HARD!
Head up guys. There are a few of them @ the CC nest to NE mall in Hurst TX (76021). I priced matched it for $99.00 at Best Buy around the corner and used my $35.00 BB GC as well bringing it down even further. The Best Buy has several at that store. I think I counted about 3 of them and if you need one I would grab one now since several the CS reps have the price match fresh in memory from my sale today.
Simply went to the best buy after verifying that indeed CC had it in stock and was actually $99.00 - all you do is go to BB and ask them if they will price match it. Either store will usually price match any item even if on sale or clearance. They did have to call CC to verify that items price though before they matched it.

3580 is fine if you already have one.so my question.. this or my 3850 512 for a home theater that plays some games big screen (psychonauts, f11, psx emulators come to mine). which is the overall way to go?
That's the truth, they do an abysmal job of keeping price tags up to date in store.
its lock at 37% for me according to EVGA tool. It is a little loud but thats just because my 8600gt is dead silent at idle. I havent heard it ramp up at all and in fact its locked to one speed from I can tell. The 2 prong fan has no adjustability but temps are in the 40s idle and mid to high 50s under load in most games. There's only one minor downside to the card itself from what I now know, and that is that for some reason PNY has this fan "locked" and you absolutely can't manage the fan speed at all with any utility. Not even RivaTuner. However, as opposed to what other people that bought this card says, it's not spinning @ 100%. It's spinning @ around 47% constant which actually keeps it quite cool at idle -- around 40c to be exact, and it will ramp one time when it hits about 55C to 65% which amazingly keeps the card @ below 62c idle. Much more efficient than the typical 8800GT with the reference cooler. Not quiet but also not overly loud. So all overall it's a great deal for $99.00.
I think it was white. Its a bitch to get the side of my case off and look. lolDid your 9600GT come with a white fan or black fan?
no I didnt actually look but I am 99% sure its white because I remember checking out the card before installation. I still cant figure out why they would go with a two prong fan for this card though. yeah its the same length as the 8800gt but it easily fit in my HP(dont laugh) case.Jeez bro I didn't mean to make you pull the case side off I thought you might have noticed when you installed it LOL. I noticed that mine was white as well, and when initially googling the PNY 9600GT I didn't see any of them with a white fan. I thought the 9600GT would be shorter than the 8800GT but I believe it's the same size pretty much - went right up next to the drive cage of a SuperLanboy - there's might be 1/4" clearance which was just enough for the power plug.
Anyone have easy ideas on how to make this super quiet for a home theater / gaming PC that lives in a common area?
what I dont understand is that CC will have a killer deal like this but very few people will ever know. most items that are marked down are not advertised, listed on their website, or even marked down in the store. CC could make a shitload of sales if people actually knew about their sales. theres no telling how many items I would have purchased from them instead of just walking right by them.
Max on everything @ 1680x 1050 with AA and AF.
WoW played on medium/medium high on my FX5500 and P4 @ 2.4Ghz... A 9600GT will mow over it.
What about Shattrath?
I have a Radeon X1950 Pro that I play WoW with on a P4 3.6 GHz. Get 30-40 FPS with every setting maxed out at 1920x1200, but as soon as I hit Shattrath, it takes a nosedive.
Just off hand I can tell you that this card is much faster than my older 7950GT 512MB. Especially in new games. But I will say that some older games like HL2/EP1-EP2, and Far Cry, Prey and all much faster with this card then the 7950GT as well. I know WoW is considered and older game now so i'm not sure about that one - it could be that the specific area of WoW that you're talking about gives all cards a major FPS dive I don't know, but I would *think* you would get about and extra 15-20-25 FPS in that area instantly with the 9600GT and your setup. Move to a better CPU/mobo platform and you'll get an even bigger jump. Heck even an AMD 5000+BE OC'ed to 3.0 would get you much better frame rates than the older P4 setup you're using. Just as an example though as to how good a card for the money it actually is -- the 7950GT was struggling on a 22" with medium settings in Stalker. I had to set the Sky @ static lighting (non dynamic) to get decent FPS and lower the res to 14*9. With the 9600GT I can use dynamic skies and all high settings, and some AA and the FPS is good @ 16*10. Clearly it's not an HD4850, but is is 9/10 of an 8800GT for $99.00
