Warm? - ATH-M50x - $119

Very well regarded headphones for the money. Even at their normal price.
 
I got mine on the last drop, my roommate has the m50's and they sound amazing. If they improved them at all I would be stoked/amazed. Of course I am no audiophile but they are nice for the money. They come in tomorrow. Getting the black ones, if anyone wants to trade for the blues let me know :)
 
Thanks for posting this! Great timing.

I tried the headphones at Sam Ash about a month ago and I was really impressed with the sound, even though I have a nice pair of Grado headphones. The audio sales guy at the store kept raving about these headphones. Wasn't sure I could afford them at $169 ( I also just bought a new guitar recently), but at $119, I can't pass that up.

It's even cheaper than the older model, the regular m50s which some places are trying to clear out.

Never bought something at Massdrop before. Do they often have good deals?
 
Yes, if you don't mind waiting.

M50s sell for 100 all the time. Just have to wait for the sales.

I absolutely love the Orange and Blue as a FL Gator and UIUC Illini, but I've already got Denon D2000s.
 
How difficult are these to drive (headphone amp recommended or required)? Relatedly, do they work well with portable DAPs? Right now I'm using an worn pair of ATH-AD700s for home and the Monoprice 9927s for work. Would love a single pair that covers both environments well.
