i used to have this game but got rid of it cause i needed the cash. and here recently i have been putting some older rts games on my laptop to play when i'm not paying attention in class. and maybe to play a little online here and there. and i was wondering if wc3 is still played online. like is there only like 5 people playing or would it be hard for me to get a game. just wondering cause i still like just skirmishing the computer but i wanted to know about the online aspect of it now a days.

It's mainly just sheep tag and run kitty run, but you do get into a good footies or tower defense or hero line wars every once and a while.

Just checked and theres about 7000 people playing Warcraft 3 but over 50k playing the expansion. So you should have no problem finding games.

everyone plays dota lol...it's full of them on the custom games list. I personally suck at micro, like so many other people do, so I never touch regular games.

Exactly why I don't play the regular game either.

I can't find a difference in the online community for the 5 years I've been playing it. I don't think it will change until Blizzard makes a new rts. Dota is still the most popular game.

I still login about once a week for some TD's, DOTA is dead to me thanks to the community of 6 year old babies.

ya that's why I ONLY play with friends. It's some of the best time when you got 4 or 5 people on vent in a team and working together. Pickup games just end up with one team dominating or leavers.

Regular Wc3FT... *Shudder.*

All about DotA! and then LoL (League of Legends)

then there's TD's, and Warlock Brawl, and stuff... Pretty good bargain- too many custom games

Opposite for me.

I love the way its meant to be played. Not a fan of the custom games. Only custom game I liked was wintermaul, a tower defense.

One of the more recent versions of DotA had 5+ million downloads. DotA however has a huge learning curve. Don't expect to be any good without at least a months worth of experience.

The DotA community mostly consists of high schoolers who can't afford (or whose parents can't afford) to upgrade their computer to play better/newer games,

There are other custom games, but they pale in comparison of the content and the player base that DotA has to offer.

The ladder community is still alive, and disconnects aren't are prevalent as they were before.

So there's still quite a bit of multiplayer left in Warcraft 3 (with the expansion).
