War Thunder

I can completely understand the complaints about the 1.29 p2w-changes, but am I seeing complaints about increased-realism/difficulty on [H]ardForum...?

The point is that the planes became harder to fly in the "Arcade" mode, whose main selling point was the easy and responsive control that attracts the non-flight-simulator nuts among the gaming community. It seems they're moving away from that, which is awful because the game was amazing.

Although I understand your concerns, they're DOZENS of "arcade" WWII flight games that have released in the last 10 years ESPECIALLY on console systems for players to chose from. The PC community has what to chose from? IL-2 Sturmovik from 2001 and Microsoft Combat Simulator from 2002? The only simulator game that came out recently was another IL-2 one that completely bombed. I fear that this game that which originally had a simulator focus will sell itself out to the arcade console newbs before the official release. People who want pure arcade online fun should look at World of Warplanes instead. Unless they make a 4th gaming mode like "arcade - realistic," good on them for making the normal arcade mode more realistic.

I'm installing it now. I guess I'll give my first thoughts post "butt fuckery patch"

Why have 3 modes of realism if arcade isn't arcade anymore? And i can tell you they WILL lose customers this way and not gain more. 3 of my friends loved the arcade model until patch 1.29. Now they don't anymore. And World of Warplanes is not nearly as good as this game, arcade or not.

What good can possibly come from alienating most of your potential customers to please a smaller group that already have (!!!!) a mode all for themselves?

It will be interesting to see what they do going forward.

In other words, you're an elitist. You've got the Historical and Real Time Battles already in there, along with missions to satisfy your every "simulator" taste, but the arcade mode still has to please you in the way that makes it not-at-all "Arcade".

Arcade mode is still no where close to being full sim mode, my biggest beef is what happened to the economy for non-premium players with this patch.

Bah, arcade mode is much more difficult now. Previously I used to get a few kills per battle, now I get one if I'm lucky. Price of the top tier planes is.. absurd.

The good news is that a new update just dropped, alleviating a number of issues such as the elimination of dive bombing, planes being less maneuverable, etc. The biggest issue, that being the economy UNbalancing...does not yet appear to have been touched.

It is, however, very reassuring that such a prompt and direct response was given to the community. Well played, sir.

My japanese fighters feel a lot less agile and their guns still seem weak compared to the other nations...yuck yuck

this game needs tiered matches (by rank in chosen air force). it's really pretty stupid to have players that are way ahead of others in planes which you cannot out-climb, out-run, out-turn... and on and on. this game, while fun, is broken in my book due to this... but if you're a guy with shit tons of time on your hands it'll be almost like shooting fish in a barrel. i just played a match and any time i got someone's attention i was owned pretty quick - later i find out there were several people about rank 20 in their air force (i was rank 3) with planes which had mine completely outclassed.

Just got into playing this game last night, its pretty fun. Almost rank 4 and can't wait to try the P-40 out.

I was looking for a new WW2/Flight Sim game to play , and this delivered.

Now with update 1.31, everyone gets free stuff. use my link if you're just starting an account. Woo WarThunder! http://warthunder.com/en/registration?r=4981410

In my opinion as far as World of Tanks vs War Thunder, War Thunder wins hands down. Very entertaining and War Thunder is not pay to win. If your plane still has bullets, you can take anybody down.

I also enjoy you can play in different modes, arcade, historical, simulation, very simple to very complex.

Im having fun. Like the new features and content of the new patch.

My name is Krenum1 if anyone wants to get a squad together.

Did that update re-balance the economy, or is it still going to take days of work just to unlock a single plane?

Not trying to hate or sound mean or anything but how can you compare a tank game to a plane game? They are entirely two different types of games. Both are good in their respective categories IMO. Flaws and all. Now if you are trying to compare WT to WoP then it makes more logical sense in comparison.

Not really, having played both, they are basically point and shoot arcade type games with same interface and purchasing system.

That being said, I think War Thunder is the better game though, it has more dimension and chances for better gameplay like dogfights with multiple opponents.

Got real busy and have been out of game for more then a month, although I did jump on to buy acouple aircraft during some of the sales.

So, what's the current state of War Thunder, is the economy still screwed up.

Does anyone know of a good squadron that's available? I just started - going German, but I don't have anyone to play with.

So I am going to try this out, any suggestions on good flight stick to use?

Extreme 3d Pro, Logitech...its cheap..can usually be had at best buy for under 35...and it works great..lots of users use it..(I do) ..and lots of configs for it on the forums.

I know this is a long shot but hey, I have nothing to lose.
Anyone have any of those free credits codes NVidia gives away?

I played every day for the better part of a decade. Upper tiers got so grindy; roll out a vehicle, get one shot...week repair. Eventually I was just like, fuck it.

That's how it was for me in WoT, spending money I didn't have, to repair a leet tank that I couldn't afford to shoot another tank, because I wouldn't be able to afford to reload it, let alone the other 2 that I had that were always in need of repair and reloading.

Super stupid pay wall on that game.

path tracing will fix everything! 🤣

I'd love to see a regular multiplayer game like this, not a freemium game. The jets cost the same price as a DCS jet, and these things are nowhere near the level of detail. And then you still need to do grinding stuff.
