Hey guys. I am about to acquire a shuttle XPC. I want to stick this in the tv room and be able to use it to record programs from TV, mostly sports when its on. However, I am here today to ask HOW with the setup below:

SHuttle SB65G2, built in wireless (Black case)
P4 2.4c (does 2.6, but havent tried higher)
1GB dual channel Kingston HyperX PC 3200 memory (2x512)
40gig WD HD 8mb buffer 7200
Liteon 16x dvdr
PNY Personal Cinema FX5700, with remote, box, cables, manual, cd

Now, with this video card, it has the coaxial in and out. Plus s-video and rca in. Will this work just as good as a tv tuner card? Also, with whatever card I use to record, how the heck can I record, is there a speical program for this? Your help will be much appreciated!

you might wanna look into Windows XP Media Center Edition
No. No you don't. In fact, how fast can you run?

upriverpaddler has the right idea here. There's a whole forum dedicated to this sort of thing essentially. For one thing, we really don't know the exact specifics of that video card. All we can say based just on that is that if your card has video input (which is HIGHLY likely if it has a coaxial connector) then you can indeed capture video using it. As for special software, if it uses a standard driver (such as the official nvidia wdm driver) you can capture in practically any capture software out there, so it's just a matter of finding what suits you best (my personal preference being AVI_IO for it's simplicity and built in support of splitting files automatically.) HOWEVER, if it has a video input, it will almost surely have come with it's own capture software, which you will find on the driver disc most probably (this is where your manual comes in handy since we don't know exact specifics about every card.)

I will tell you one thing. If you care at all about quality, you'll need to hook up the directtv to the highest quality interface you can (presumably being the s-video in this case) and set the video resolution and capture quality settings reasonably high. Exact specifics on these things depend on the specific software and hardware, so, again with the manuals.
