hi, everyone i am looking for older working ibm compatible, or apple\mac computer hardware, laptops 8088 to pentium 3's, video cards, hard drives, memory, cpu's heat sinks, cables, and ms windows 95, to 98, ms dos on diskette, i build them and give them away to children that cant afford them, if you have something you would like to get rid of cheap, or if i can pay shipping on the item please let me know, i have some heat under raggers at heatware.com, thanks everyone.

you can get a flat rate shipping box,as long as it fits in the box, for free from the local post office for $10.60 shipping regardless of weight.
117/8 x 3 3/8 x 13 5/8 is the size of the box, thanks to bigadddy51 ceo of computersforkids.org for the help, and the advice, and thanks
so far to everyone that is helping.

bump... that's sweet. I have an old unfinish comp. I'll see if you can have it. It's somewhere in my house

I have a Pentium III setup that I don't know what to do with, YGPM in a minute :D.

an 8088? really? do u really want a kid to play with an 8088?
:-P

actually I have a number of older stuff thats just taking up space...

P2 450 w/2 x 128SDram on a mobo from an hp pull in a 4u rackmount and psu...
p3 733 on an asus cusl2 and some sticks of mem in a midtower case and psu...
celeron 700mhz w/some sdram in a smaller desktop case w/psu...
a really old nec ready 9522 w/amd k6-400mhz overdrive chip and 64?MB of EDO memory... used to run 98 great... i can boot it up to make sure it works if u want...

BookPC w/ celeron 533 w/2 x 128MB sdram w/some small hard drive and cdrom... complete system... everything onboard, nics a bit flaky... runs DSL linux...

PARTS
between the systems I think I have like 6-8? sticks of SDRAM mostly 128MB... a stick of 64mb sdrom sodimm for laptop...
a couple agp vid cards, a g2mx 64mb, s3 verge, some intel thing...
2 soundblaster isa cards, one sb16 and one sb awe64 iirc...
2? soundblaster live pci cards... maybe a nic or two?
i have several drives that are between 10GB-30GB I could throw in.
3-4 cdrom/cdrw drives maybe a dvdrom in there... a zip drive?
i can throw in a handful of 56k modems! and a dozen ide cables or so, 2.5/5.25 drive brackets, nic cablers, power cords, some 80mm fans... some cpu coolers, p3/tbird era?

i think i have a win95 disc somewhere too and dos 6.22 on floppy... and i have some of win95/311 on floppies.... altho id plugin xubuntu/dsl or some other lite linux distro...

lemme kno if ur interested in any of this... im actually in the process of doin an inventory on parts and still have several boxes to go thru...
id prob just charge shippin and packaging if i ned to hunt down some boxes/bubble blankets...

also, u might want to let us kno if ur lookin for any parts to complete a system, ie a cpu or ram... i do have some old cpus, slot 1 celerons and p# somethings... other ppl can also chip in their random parts to help out and fill in missing pieces...

Did you need monitors or screens to go with those pcs?
Just in case some of us have a few monitors available for someone to put to use... :D

yes i need them, but i cant pay the shipping on them, they are to heavy, for just one piece
when i can get several pcs, or more for the same shipping weight as a monitor.

back out front Comon guys, it's for a giood cause. put together a flaT RAte box of stuff and free up some storage space. ;):D

you can get flat rate boxes for free from USPS or the local PO they have NO WEIGHT limit. Lots of stuff will fit in them.

thanks bigdaddy51 i added the info to the start of the thread and thanks to everyone thats helping me help kids.

I have some old stuff that is collecting dust. Let me inventory it this weekend and Ill either post back here or shoot a PM to the OP and get it out.

DEFINITELY a good cause. Cough up all of your unused/older hardware people!!!

GOOD FOR YOU RAGGERS!! :D

I do the same from my shop, for local families and kids.
Amazing how even systems that end up in the town landfill, with a little TLC, can become a blessing that makes a struggling family gleam with joy. They honestly don't care if it's obsoleted hardware. It goes online, it gets email, it runs some kids educational games, it runs Quicken. That's about all it takes to make them REALLY happy. :D

My only issue is this: There are so many others, online and off, that gather up systems to "give to charity"... and are really disgusting bottom-feeders who only pretend to do charity work, while instead gather up those systems to part-out and EBay. I've actually caught several people in the act. And that makes my blood boil.

BTW, if you want some REALLY BASIC video cards, I have several listed in the Freebies.

glad to hear that your helping them where your located, you cant get much out of older systems though when you figure in the hours of work it takes to get some of them running
its better to just fix them up and pass them on to kids that wouldn't have one otherwise, no sense in throwing out good hardware, even if its old. i could use some video cards, just let me know what the shipping is and i'll get it off to you.

This would be a really cool Project/Organization to start and run. To have someone would can house, store and inventory old parts that they can use to build boxes or even to ship off to other people who need it. It would be cool to see an online database of old free parts for computer builds. The hard part would be testing the equipment and then properly disposing of broken equipment. This is one of the big reasons I have so much older equipment taking up space in my basement. I wish there was someplace local I could jsut drop off dead hard drives, mobos and power supplies and know they will recycle them or dispose of them properly. I have dead tvs w/mercury and stuff that should not get dumped into a landfill...

anywys I have been doing something kind of like this for a while. Mainly though, I take broken/old stuff from other people and figure out wuts good and wuts not. I also pick up parts on sale/clearance just to get a box up and running. I spend too much time ebaying old cheap parts to build systems and then have them sit there...

Maybe we could make www.computersforkids.org a real organization with a real site and provide working computers for free. Wonder if we could get some shipping company to sponsor/donate some shipping costs... I would be very interested in doing something like this... actually, it would be cool if we could partner w/Habitat for Humanity and provide a working computer w/a new house... heh...

I just found an old hp p3 something in a box... Ill check it out this weekend and let u kno If I can send that too...

and definitely props to a good cause...

thats when you expose them for the trolls they are, by listing them in the local troll list.We did a lot, first with Computers for Soldiers, and then I did Computers for Children locally, and it can really get rolling, sometimes to fast ,if u aint prepared for it. I was lucky, I had a local recycler give me monitors, to make complete set ups. While U talk about trolls on our side, there also trolls on the other side of the fence. One "needy" family turned out to be living in a $350,000 HOUSE DRIVING 2 NEW SUVs. Takes all kind I guess.

$350.00 house, and 2 suvs? and they couldnt afford a computer? oh i don't doubt that
at all some people are bottom feeders like that. looking to gte things for free, and take
it from those that really need it,
