My primary set up is a 3x Dell 1080 (S2740), with a 4790K @ 4Ghz, 32GB Ram, and Win10, all driven by a single GTX 980 Ti hybrid. This is used for both work (MS office and internet) as well as play (mostly FPS). Three monitors are great for work, and the 980 does a good job with 5760 X 1080 surround for play, but I find I'm wanting more.
Would love to make the jump to bigger displays (3x 4k or possibly 2x Acer x34 predator), but these would require a GPU upgrade - I don't think even dual 980s will drive those configurations. AND I might need a CPU upgrade, which, along with new mobo + RAM effectively makes this a completely new build.
Any thoughts on delaying an upgrade for a few months? 1080 Ti is rumored for year-end, and new X35 predators by then may also drive down x34 pricing, not to mention I might actually be able to get my hands on a GTX 1080.
Budget is probably around $2K, but I could go higher to allow for 2x predators + either another 980 or a single 1080.
