I'm running OS X and while i don't really care if i have Terminal running (i can just hide it), i would like some way, any way, of starting F@H with the machine (not by hand) and hiding F@H so you can't quit it easily. I would like to put F@H on the family machines, (4.4GHz of G4 goodness total) but i know that no one will stand for this unless it's 'behind the scenes' so to speak.

Er... one thing, before i null two days worth of proscessing: will it over-write entirely a current install of FAH terminal client, or will it just re-install it as a service? Thanks.
 
Okay, so i backed up all the good stuff and went ahead and installed it anyway. It works fine. : ) I haven't decided if it works if i'm logged off though. I'll log off or restart and not log back in and see if my laptop's fan kicks in. While i was at it, i borged my mom's laptop (1.5GHz G4, 768MB RAM) but kinda felt like an asshole for it because she won't know about the program or how to stop it and her laptop will always blow air with the adapter plugged in, and her battery life will probably drop by an hour. Wah.
...+1.5GHz, anyway.
 
do macs have any type of network server service? ( like samba or webmin in linux) you could monitor your macs from another computer using Electron Microscope??

I dont know much about macs but I do remember that post from a while back/

Sure, they use samba. How would i use EM3 in this case? I haven't used it yet, but i'm guessing that you'ld have to run it from a PC on the netowork and then as long as it has read privlidges on the Mac, it can read the progress files?

Yep. It just reads the files from the mac, then makes pretty pictures.
 
Awesome. I'll run that when i get back to college on my 300MHz (!) PC. It's running headless, though, so i have to use VNC to get access to it. : )

Wow, that's gonna be like an infinite loop. Mac sends pc data, pc generates pics, sends them to mac... now you should set up another layer of abstraction. mwahaha.
