Want to upgrade video card

Currently have a 1070 and I'm considering a 5700XT. Only thing holding me back is my monitor, a Asus 165 hz 2560x1440 GSync. Would I be a fool for going AMD or should I just get a 2070 Super ?

I see no reason to use a AMD card with a GSync monitor.

A RTX 2070 Super or 2080 Super are decent performers for 1440p

2080TI if you really want to hit 165Hz on high settings in modern AAA titles

Or sell the monitor and get a cheap Freesync one and match it with a cheap 5700.
