Hi, Ive overclocked before with easytune, I dont know if it really even worked. Well Just to be cool, I want that little extra juice....

Heres what I have to work with.

3.2C Northwood
Gigabyte 8KNXP
Kingston 3500 RAM
5 Case fans 28.9 Idle Case temps load 45 - 45.5 Max usually 39-42.

Any ideas, I'll be new to bios overclocking and, I want to leave it oced. Secon I'll have this computer for atleast 2 more years.... Maybe I'll replace the mobo and proc down the line but not soon.

Sorry, I probably annoy most of you!

apparently someone is too cool to read their manual...

go into the BIOS (press del after POSTing) then go to frequency/voltage control

Everything is explained in detail in your manual, just raise the FSB (memory frequency) by 5 Mhz or whatever. AGP/PCI/SRC frequency should be fixed 66/33/100. DIMM, AGP, and CPU voltage is just the voltage control for those (RAM, graphics, cpu, duh). CPU Clock ratio is the multiplier, you can't mess with that so leave it alone. From the manual..it looks like you have to mess with the "memory frequency for" part until you can change the FSB directly.

Anything you change in the BIOS will stay like that, unless your computer doesn't boot and you reset the cmos.

we all started somewhere.

do a google search on o/c'ing, but the BIOS is the place to be if you want to O/C

if that was in reference to

then...

that was a response to "want to oc without clockgen/easytune"

If this user has done that, they most likely have looked into overclocking theory a little, therefore they should be someone informed about overclocking (if they aren't then....wow).

Now...assuming they got that far...they would know of this "frontside bus thing" and the multiplier, so they would kind of know their way around. The BIOS options are explained (albeit not cleary, these taiwanese companies really need to hire english speaking people to write their english manuals :p ) in the manual. AMDXPCottonFire22 *should* have been able to open their manual, look for the "BIOS" section, look for the submenu for overclocking options, and then figure out which option does what.

Of course if AMDXPCottonFire22 has not even researched overclocking, then they really shouldn't be looking into this at all, but nonetheless I will retract my statement.

wow that came out way wordier than i wanted it to -_-

And since you are asking specifically about overclocking not anything to do with an Intel CPU then this should really be in the overclocking forum, :)

But its an intel processor ;) I know, Ive changed my clock frequency in bios to 211.... Its scary to go farther!!!!!!!!!! :p

I read my mobo manuel and I have no jumpers, to clear cmos i unpulg the power cable and remove the battery and wait 20 seconds, is this normal???/

High High do you guys think i can go...?????

My rams limit says 217 so should I go 215???

Your mobo evidently does things a little differently..but if it still works..whatever ;)

Your RAM's stock speed (MHz it is guaranteed to work at) is 217/218, you can push it further than that.

How high you can go would have to depend on your chips, the RAM and CPU, assuming you have adequate cooling and your PSU is holding up.

I hope it works, thats what it said...... new to me. It has dual bios though.... whatever that is it says its the backup bios.........
