Tonight was my first night of my photography endavour, which I have decided to call a new hobby. All taken with my new Powershot A520. I guess they're not too bad for having been my first time really trying to take a good picture, but they aren't very good either =\

They all seemed underexposed. Are you using M? Put in on P (P's for professional, right? hehe) and learn composition and stuff like that. Shots in the dark are hard.

Use a tripod. If you don't have one, just rest it on your hat or something. Camera shake can easily be avoided by using a delayed shutter. If you're already not handholding, you can lower the ISO as low as you can to get the least noise.

For first endevors in low light shot they arent bad. Number 2 you need a tripod for sure. Try your manual settings @ ISO 400 and, then if your camera has it set the exposure times @ 1second and, such. Just to see how it effects the shots. It is the best way to learn and, the great thing about digitals is who cares you can delete the bad ones if you choose. If you were shooting film then it is the developement horrors and, wasted film. I keep all of mine though and, make notes on what I did that, the produced produced the good effect or, the bad. It is a good way to remember what does and, doesnt work. Either way keep shooting and, welcome to the hobby.
 
Same complaint. Seems a little underexposed. With both 1 and 3, though the light is interesting, I don't get any real sense of focus (and by focus, I mean what you are wanting us to pay attention to / see, not camera focus).

I thought 2 was interesting but it seemed like you got it more out of accident. Apologies if it was purposeful. But I do like all the lit characters. Again, kind of a lack of focus, but would be good as a background.
 
Very dark pictures, but when I first started doing night photography, I got the same results. I do think that #2 is neat, but also not sure if it's purposeful or just due to shake.

#2 was a mix between an accident and messing around with slow exposure time. I knew what the results were going to be from slowing it down, and that was the coolest one that came out.
