Thanks, this is very useful information. I guess you were lucky. I ordered on Sep.24, VM was pretty quick in taking payment (Sep .25), but after this there was no progress at all ...

that's definantly the case, i ordered 3 days before you, but i've got the very popular GX Campus Edition which is in very high demand...

No same her, I bought it a day after you (Campus Edition right)??? The Payment was approved next day, but nothing at all since then and it's been over 2 weeks.

Well, they did call you and switch your case to blue right? I find it odd that given that, they still haven't advanced your order, assuming they already have the blue cases in stock. You should call them up and find out what is going on.

I've got to tell you though, it will be worth the wait!! As someone who has only bought HP and Dell machines in the past, I was floored by how immaculate the wiring was in my VM machine. The build quality really is fantastic. Last night I called their support and got a quick answer to my question. Time will tell, but so far, I'm loving this.
 
Vlad, your system has been in production, someone just hasn't updated your order status. I'll update you at the end of the day with the progress. We're trying to get it out today, in fact.

I hope you are right! Although VM offers immaculate wiring only for their higher-end systems :) Is it rather funny - in VM online configurator they have an "assembly" tab - though with onle one choice, which is set to "immaculate wiring" for higher-end systems and "careful wiring" for lower-end system. As a buyer of campus edition PC, I can expect only careful wiring :) But maybe VM will upgrade my PC to immaculate wiring? I want to be floored too!

My system config only said "careful wiring" -- but "careful" and "immaculate" -- these things are subjective. To me, it looks immaculate...very clean and well put together.
 
Just got 4 emails from VM with order status updates.

So, this is my final timing:

Ordered - Sept 24
Payment approved - Sept 25
Staged for assembly - Oct 13
In assembly - Oct 13
Completed - Oct 13.
Shipped - Oct 13.

As somebody said above - "each machine is different" :)

Thanks again, Chris, for your attention to this matter. I guess I will find out soon whether wiring in my machine is immaculate or only careful :) Hope that I will be floored too!

Um, if it's a matter of time The Blue Chassis please...i dunno if this counts as verification or if you have to get an email, just lemme know..

Update: Now if you try to buy the velocity micro campus edition it specifically says under silver and black (please allow 10 extra days)...blue is good though

LOL! The blue is actually very stunning - I have one under my desk in my office. I think the easiest way to make this happen for you is for you to email vmsales AT velocitymicro DOT com with your request. We have been sending out emails manually to those who are impacted by this shortage, but this way you can initiate it yourself. Please copy me cmorley AT velocitymicro DOT com and I'll follow up on it on Monday when our sales department is back in. Again, we are very sorry about the delay.

Computer ordered on 9/9 and still no PC. I would hope to be one of the first ones to receive the PC after the new cases come in.

Well, our in house tech support is there till 11PM - you could try calling them and seeing if they can make the change. Ask for Ellen - tell her Chris said to have a good weekend. ;)
 
Okay, I couldn't reach Ellen because she was on the other line, but I got to talk to Flave. He was very helpful and I'm impressed with his service. He got me the blue case, so agreed with me that my awaiting PC will be on a faster track than before. Thanks alot Chris for all your help, It's nice to see that in times of troubles (late shipments) you guys are willing enough to upgrade to blue at no cost. So thank you very much. Can't wait to get/see my new pc!

Hey, I can't believe i took this for granted..but does the campus edition GX come with a cd rom burner? i just figured it did but now im not sure

and im scared im gonna have to throw down another 100 bucks for an external burner drive

Yup, it's got a DVD burner and a DVD ROM drive. The DVD burner also burns CDs...

Yeah -- mine's scheduled for shipment in 5 days and is still listed as "Payment cleared" on the VM website. Im hoping its just not updated yet :p

On a lighter note, I got home from Iraq last night (Sat) and for some reason I was thinking it was Friday... so I called and got the emergency help line... a little embarassing being called out by the tech rep on not knowing what day it was :) Ah well.

Ill try again tomorrow but if Chris sees this and is feeling charitable, my order is #231427

Because where it gives you the 2 optical drives, not anywhere does it say the worder "burner", so i got really scared haha, I just assumed because most computers nowadays have burners. Thanks for clearing that up.

Looks like Friday at 8PM you got your GX Blue chassis entered into your order, so that should clear up the bottleneck, I don't have any information beyond that, but give us a call tomorrow when I'm back in the office and can speak with production.

Hi all. Haven't been around for awhile -- fractured my hand and pulled some tendons, so no computer for me.

Anyway, I decided to stop by my fav lurking site ([H]) and saw this.

I got myself a gamers edge 1000. No, it's not top of the line, no it doesn't have the sexy window. But what I wanted to post about from my own experience through the ordering/building process is that in my case the step by step emails weren't in synch with the actual process. I got my computer earlier than was anticipated, going by the email updates I was getting.

For instance, I got an email saying that my VM was in the testing stage -- that's the day it was delivered to me! And yes, seeing as we're dealing with UPS here, I did hold my breath until I'd wrestled it out of the box, hooked it up and fired it up. It worked perfectly and still is. In particular Pete and Heather went out of their way to help me. VM is, of course being a business, interested in your money. But they're also interested in you AFTER the sale and from my own experience and reading many others here, they are one of the few companies selling anything that bend over backwards to take care of their customers.

Fingers and toes crossed for all of you waiting for your VM, keep up the fantastic job to all at VM. You guys are the best :)

There have been stretches of time where our email update system has lagged behind the wonderful job our production team is doing in keeping customer orders filled, and we do apologize for any inconvenience...

Out of curiosity - why did you choose this system? Campus edition exceeds it on almost all characteristics (better CPU, more memory) and costs less. The only factor is favor of gamers edge is SLI motherboard, but why buy an SLI motherboard with a single rather low-end graphic card?
 
Yeah, I was little bummed out that the motherboard isn't SLI capable, but w/e

I'll just try to get the best of the best when DX10 cards come out. And if I have to, upgrading a motherboard isn't too too expensive.

Just found out that while your EST is Oct. 21st, but production should be putting your order into staging ASAP, which means you should beat that date - as to the BBY card, I'm not really sure, you might want to give sales a buzz to get a definitive answer...

Got today my new computer. Will tell about my first impressions in a new thread. (This one is now used by many people to inquire about status of their orders, so a discussion of an actually received computer could be considered off-topic :) )
