hey guys,

well i am tired of this POS ECS motherboard. i want to get something that i use to oc my venice 3000+. should i wait for DFI or get the biostar tforce ?

help me.

PS: ECS rs 480 is the worst motherboard ever. its not even compatible with amd x2. so i decided to sell the x2 and just get a new motherboard. i will probably get a dual core when more games start to use the dual core.
 
i'm running a 2x on the crappy ecs mobo, i just updated the bios and it worked fine for me... but the thing is still really crappy.
 
What DFI Motherboard are you "Waiting" for?

Id just get an Ultra-D or NF4 Infinity and call it a day.
 
he's referring to the tforce motherboard that's supposed to be out who knows when. if you have the time and don't want to upgrade right now, i'd say wait, cuz it never hurts to have more options. its probably gonna be like another month before we see dfi's board though, and that's hopeful thinking.
 
The Biostar T-Force board is already out. It's been in and out of stock at Newegg, but there are other places that have it in stock.
 
IMO, why wait? Noone knows when DFI is going to bring one out. Hell I been waiting forever for ANY decent matx board. Jump on the Biostar, its gotta be better than your ECS.
 
Does anyone happen to have the Biostar board and a X2 3800+? I've narrowed my motherboard choice down to either the Biostar or the Foxconn nForce4 board (either board will be replaced probably mid-next year anyway), but looking at Biostar's website, their bios and driver sections leave much to be desired (as in, no bios updates since the initial first bios that came with the board). :/
 
actually, there are bios updates. i think someone linked to em in the biostar oc'ing thread. the biostar's a good board, currently the best that's out.
 
I'll add that no one knows is the DFI mobo is going to be for enthusiasts. I believe that DFI released some mATX mobos in the past, but they weren't designed for overclockers.

Still, having some doubts about whether the Biostar will be better as it seems like some people have been issues with the right bios? What are your guys current results? 250+ doable?

True story about DFI. They have released P-M microATX and miniITX boards that are totally barebone. No guarantees that a 939 DFI board will offer any overclocking features as most manufacturers feel microATX is the OEM segment. They might not even make one as socket M2 is only a few months away.

Look at it from their view… Smaller boards are cheaper to manufacture, but harder to cram overclocking features on and may not be worth investing money in R&D when the majority of people prefer the ATX versions.
 
biostar board ppl have gotten 300+ i think. if it was the 430 southbridge, then i wouldnt wait. i want the extra stuff that the 410 lacks though.
 
i emailed the INQ editor and he mentioned that DFI is working on a geforce 6150 board and is supposed to release it in mid december. i am not sure wheater its in mATX form factor or not.

and is Gbit LAN any useful?
 
I'd count TheInq as a more reliable source that the DFI reps. ...unless that is where he got his info! :p Sounds promising at least.

Gigabit LAN is only useful if you do a lot of large file transfers over a local network. Like if you had a ReplayTV wired to your PC to watch it live on your monitor. Otherwise, it's just a marketing tool. 10Mbps connections would even be enough to max out some DSL connections. 100Mbps is enough to use over 1/4 of the bandwidth of a University line - that's wrongly assuming you are the only user. Gigabit is enough to max out 3 University's lines.
 
gbit lan may not be useful, but the other features that come w/ the 430 southbridge are :)
i personally want it for the azalia audio, cuz i dont want to buy a separate sound card. the extra sata connectors are nice, too.

well i would be exiceted over azalia however i already have a Audigy 2 that is lying on my table because i couldnt use it with the ECS. stupid xpress200 chipset. :mad:
 
any timeline for the MSI t-force mATX?

(I'm also looking to replace my crap ECS board even though I got it to work half decently.)

It was supposed to be mid November, but yeah, no news yet from MSI (their website doesn't even list anything about their up-coming boards :( )
