W7: How to sort desktop icons by DATE CREATED

This is a feature I miss tremendously from XP. The closest thing I can do is sort by date modified, and desktop is where I put a lot of my new files. They go all over the place. And if I copy an older file to desktop, they go right in the middle of my icons. And yes, I need a lot of icons on my desktop.


tl;dr: How to sort icons on desktop by Date Created?
 
Turn on Auto Arrange and Sort by Date Modified, and then never ever move anything. Then they'll be in the order you want.
 
Not to hijack, but that is a pet peeve of mine when my users insist on treating their desktop as their work area. I love clean desktops, and can't stand having the clutter there, when a folder on my data drive does the job much better...but I guess we can call it a personal preference sort of thing.
